more "exotic sounding exhaust"?

yes I searched. and yes I have listened to every clip I could find...a coupleof hours worth actually! (I just can't hear enough of a difference between the mediocre source material and my Macbook speakers)

I am almost done with my car but would like an exhaust if one that I like exists.

I actually really liked the sound of my 350Z exhaust as it had the higher pitch sound of the italian exotics.(some might flame me on that but I still like the sound of a stock 350 or FX35 pulling away)

Most exhausts I heard for the 335 seem to be more of a deep style sound. While this is nice...I prefer the higher pitched notes.

Is there an exhaust that has a higher pitch like the 350? or should I just stay golf tee stock?

Thanks.

Wait for the new B&B System or the Billy Boat Exhaust system. They may have the tone you're looking for, the high pitch combined with the rumble we all love. I had one on my E46 and it sounded awesome. I'll agree, the FX35 and the 350z's have a nice note to them similar to a Lambos note. If you google the B&B systems you can listen to notes on other cars and make ur prelim call.

thanks. I have to make it to some meets to hear them in person really.

Headphones would probably help... but garbage in garbage out... camcorders compressed through you tube can only do so much! lol

Personally, I can't say a Nissan exhaust sounds anywhere near "exotic."

if you have heard them you know what I mean. Whenever I am in Miami and I see the Astons, Ferraris, etc etc I just love the style of exhaust note. It is a much higher pitched sound than most other cars.

I have to say that among "normal cars" the Z/FX have one of the sweetest stock exhaust sounds out there

Just search for "retrodrive" on YouTube. That's about as exotic as a e90/92 will sound.

By far one of the best sounding exhausts for this car. It kind of sounds like a porsche, and the best part is that there is no rasp

first of all, keep in mind that VQ-powered Nissans (as well as V8 Ferraris, V10 Porsches and BMWs, and V12 Lamborghinis) achieve their sounds naturally aspirated. its going to be tough to duplicate (or even replicate) such a dual-pitch high/low sound with your F/I motor. the eisenmann that san~man said to search for on youtube is about as close to "exotic" as its going to get for you 335i guys. it just isn't in the nature of our inlne-6 motors to produce those sounds.

the closest thing to "exotic" i've heard coming from an inline-6 is a BPU Supra...and once those BPU Supra guys go single and get rid of the stock twin turbos, they no longer sound exotic - they just sound mean as all hell. i would imagine the same will go for the 335i, seeing as how the N54 is similar to the 2JZ-GTE in engine layout (inline-6), displacement, and turbo size. once people start figuring out how to go single with the 335i, it will no longer be able to achieve an exotic exhaust note - it will probably just sound mean as f_ck like single turbo Supras. so if you're looking for an "exotic-like" exhaust note, do it before you go single (i think you guys have some time before that happens anyways).

i've been told in the past that the high pitch screams in conjunction with the low-pitch growls we hear coming from the exotics mentioned above is due to the use of a flat-plane crank (as opposed to a cross-plane crank)...at least with the V8's (i can't speak for the V10s and V12s though). however, i have my doubts, as both the N54 and the 2JZ use flat-plane cranks, and i really don't know of an inline-6 that doesn't.

I think 350Zs don't sound so nice myself, but to each his own. No way does it sound anything like an Italian

i can think of one way in which the VQ does sound like an italian (if by italian, you mean the classic Ferrari V8 sound). the VQ and ferrari V8s share the dual-tone quality (a low-pitch growl overlaid by a high-pitch scream, like i described above). does the VQ sound exactly like a ferrari V8? no. but they have similarities in tone quality, regardless of anyone's opinion.

seems like the autobahn is the best bet through the clips. Thanks for all the input everyone.

I will wait till I hear more in person to buy though.
