Bringing E92 to Hawaii

Greetings All,

I am military and bringing my E92 M3 from California to Hawaii. The car should be there by mid-October. I was wondering what precautions do the locals recommend. I went there once on vacation, and didn't really notice bad air quality like Los Angeles. Should I bring a car cover? How about getting the car washed and detailed by a professional once or twice a month? I ask this because other military who were stationed there say that there is sometimes "acid rain" (I call B.S.) and others say there is a lot of salt in the air. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

I was just there... the vog is getting better, but you'll have to deal with that and your car's finish.

Aloha Buffalo. Depending if you're gonna be parking your car by the beach all the time, i would say detailing your car a lot would be in order. If you just keeping it inland, you don't have to worry about all the sea salt and so called acid rain. Just lay down some good wax and you're good to go. Conditions here are awesome; i just hate when your car is spotless and clean and you get a slight drizzle because of the tradewinds pushing in some clouds. Other than that, enjoy the good weather and lets all do a BMW cruise soon!!

Here's a precaution... If you have 20" rims, drive CAREFULLY. Oahu's road's are one of the worst in the world. We have potholes that will devour small dogs.
