Where does the air go?, intake? cus i have a 328 (no turbo)

if you were to go pop your hood... you'd see that there is a plastic tube that sucks in air that flows in through the grille, through a long black hose, through the filter box and into the engine. well when you drive, that air smashes into the radiator and some of it will get sucked into the intake. However with the scoops, its redirecting a larger % of that air into the intake which will increase the amount of "colder" air to be combusted in the cylinders (since it doesn't have time to be warmed by the heat off the engine) and since colder air is denser, it creates more power during combustion which will obviously make the car go faster.


Cliff Notes: More cold air redirected into intake from outside makes BMW go faster

i don't understand these things lol do you need a after market intake for these? is there a sound difference?

no you don't need after market intake for it but it helps. you can use a stock intake and just buy a more porous after market air filter like a K&N for like $75 or whatever they cost

its basically in a nutshell pushing more air into the engine for combustion thus making more power.

they channel the air to the intake box. you do not need an aftermarket intake. you see the most gains at high speed (highway), because air is rushing at the car at a high rate of speed and and these help direct the air into the intake. this way you get the best efficiency out of whatever intake you have, whether stock or aftermarket. without these, the air doesn't get "forced" into the intake.

Personally, i think a very nice upgrade.
