Ultimate Intake Discussion

OK so like alot of you im one of the PISSED OFF members that bought the dual cone AFE oiled intake system only to find out MANY people are finding a noticeable loss in HP, and no matter how good it sounds/looks, Im not keeping it

NOW first can someone clarify if this LOSS is just on a dyno (not that many extremely highpowered fans)

and what intakes are showing REAL horsepower gains (could care less about noise/looks)

looking to return my AFE intake and possibly buy the ultimate racing "true" CAI... or even the dual filter BMS

PLEASE can someone suggest an intake i can buy that will GIVE ME MORE horsepower!!!!! thank you!!!!!
....

THERE ARE TOO MANY THREADS ABOUT THIS, condense it to one, searching takes soo long and yields so many different results

It seems like people can quickly swap back and forth from the stock airbox to the aftermarket intakes (afe and dual cones at least). Why not go to the track, run a few passes with and without the intakes and then compare the trap speeds? Either that, or if possible, datalog your speed vs. time on the same stretch of road with an without the intake on. That's probably the only way to tell whether you are gaining or losing power with the hood closed and the car at speed. Yes, there are other variables but if you get a few runs in with and without the intake the truth will be told

I think Lawdude did this and notice no difference in trap speed.

+1 to AFE vs. STOCK on the track. These intakes require a lot of air in order to achieve maximum performance potential, so I wouldn't really believe in dynos just yet.

I also sent a formal letter to tech@afefilters.com about the dyno numbers/false advertising and when they send me a reply with details, I'll post up a new thread so everyone can hear the TRUTH.

got me in a hopeful mood.... you THINK the dry filters are the problem because AFEs website does say the oiled ones produce a much better gain
