Buying a used E92 coupe - question about ipod

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. I'm looking to buy a 2006 E92 325i in the UK. The car has the professional navigation system but no usb port. I really want to be able to connect an ipod and be able to control this via the steering controls and access the playlists etc through the screen in the car.

Is it going to be possible for me to achieve this

a) by BMW
or
b) with an 3rd party aftermarket solution?

Thanks in advance,
Sunil

I know mines comes with that audio jack inside the armrest but I don't know about UK models but that is how I play my ipod. Check to see if you have one and put it on aux mode and you got connectivity to play the ipod through your stereo.

Thanks for the reply simp0man. The UK model does also have the AUX IN audio connector but am I right in thinking that this won't allow me to control the ipod from the stereo/steering wheel?

As I understand from the BMW web site, you will be able to control the iPod only if you have Navigation Professional with Bluetooth support, USB option and a "control music players via USB" option.

Okay so does anyone know if BMW are able to add in the USB option afterwards? Failing that I've see the Dension Gateway 500 mentioned here on the forums, is that compatible with I-Drive? As in will the track details etc show on the I-Drive screen?

Thanks again.

You cannot retro-add the USB option, but can have a BMW Ipod connection kit fitted instead, it lives in the glovebox - about 300 it should cost.

Other option is to investigate Denison products - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...enison+gateway

If you have the money, go for it. That 300 can go to a side skirt or spoiler.

Thanks for the info guys, I think I'll go with the BMW kit as the Denison looks like it'd be too much hassle getting the CDC coded.

Cheers,
Sunil
