This Base Support System is for an E87 or E90 BMW. Part number 82 71 0 152 991, it is in very good shape and includes the locking racing bike holder and tire holder from the below link.

No, I think it only fits road bikes, they have a different attachment for mountain bikes.

did you ever have problems putting your bike onto the rack? i'm just scared of scratching the car...

No, it's really quite easy to install and it brings a foam cushion for the opposite side so that you don't scratch the roof if you're installing it yourself.
