JRV's-Sparta Evolution Triton BBK pics and review

Well it took me about a year, but after a fairly thorough process, I finally made my selection and decided to go with the awesome Sparta Evolution Triton BBK with Pegasus S-Groved rotors...and I couldn't be happier. They were delivered last week as promised and they are absolutely beautiful.

I was torn between the red anodized and blue anodized calipers. I think the blue anodized calipers would look really sharp on a white bimmer, but IMO, I think red anodized looks best on space gray metallic.

http://spartaevo.com/

I don't want to bore you with all the details of the selection process, but I did want to say that I collected 8 quotes from many vendors and I must say we do have some really nice vendors on here who were for the most part very responsive and helpful. I was actually quite surprised as to the disparity between the quotes...my point being please make sure you do your homework, there is savings to be had.

But, I don't want to make this thread about the brakes I didn't select, I wanted to start this thread to talk about the ones I did select. In the end, the good folks at Team Sparta stepped up to the plate and delivered on their exciting new product. Take my word for it, these gorgeous new forged aluminum anodized (not powder-coated or painted) Sparta Evolution Triton brakes are even better looking in person. From a sheer aesthetics standpoint, these were the winners, hands down...really no comparison.

I will provide some feed back on them once they are installed.

The actual brake sizes I got are:
Fronts - 6 piston calipers and 355mm x 32 rotors
Rears - 4 piston calipers and 345mm x 30 rotors

On a side note, it's funny how the modding priorties differ so much from member to member. I do realize the "need for speed" is very enticing, and that the majority of modding is done to make our cars go faster. However, for me, as soon as I got my car, I wanted to get bad-ass wheels and tires, followed closely by bad-ass brakes. Again, it's a little funny to me how the vast majority of modding that goes on involves making our cars GO...and yet my first major mod involves making it STOP.

Edit - 3/31/15
First of all, I would be remiss, if I didn't send a shout-out to Alan, Champ and the staff at C & G Performance, who installed the brakes. I will definately be bringing them more business. If anyone lives in the Pittsburgh Area and needs any modifications done to their car, I highly recommend getting them done at C & G Performance. They came to me highly recommended to me by Sewickley Car Store BMW, Audi, Porche and I am so glad I have a go-to performance shop. I Can't wait to get my DP's and LSD and bring them to C & G to install.

Edit - 4/14/15
After driving on these brakes for a couple weeks, I am even more impressed with their performance than their looks, althought they look magnificent and the pedal feel is sublime .... the stopping power is awe-inspiring. I get compliments on them almost every day. Sparta has been a pleasure to work with and I would also highly recommend purchasing your BBK from them. I am really happy with my brakes.

awesome selection. i agree that everyone has different priorities. a lot of people worry about going faster through power. i think of it as maintaining speed through corners. that's something i've appreciated about my "under-powered" N52B30 in my 330i; it's never going to be as fast as an N54/N55 in a straight line but it'll hold its own in the corners with the right tires, suspension and brakes.

keep us updated with the install and then track pics!

Just installed mine this past weekend, you'll love it. If you're installing them yourself, buy a tin snip unless you have some really good cut wheels for your dremel.

Thanks for the heads up on the tin snips. I won't be installing them, but I'll tell my guy. Also, I just checked out your mods list link. Well done.

Will do. FYI, my last car was a jet black 2006 e90 330i and I absolutely loved it. I kept it bone stock...even the 162 wheels, and drove it for just under 100,000 miles. That car/engine was soooo reliable...I can honestly say that car will run for another 100k miles. Whoever is driving it now got a great car.

They look nice, but I looked up their MSRP prices and wow, I was expecting a lot less from a company I've never heard of.

I'd get a Stoptech/brembo kit for that kind of price.

Quite frankly, that was my first impression too when I initially looked into the new Sparta Evolution Triton series BBK...that is, that they were priced out of my budget.

I must say, that based on Stoptech's reputation as a very reliable product, I was very close to purchasing a Stoptech BBK...but there was just something about them that kept me from buying them...and that something was actually their looks and their logo. I am sorry to say the Stoptech BBK is just not dressy enough for my taste, again IMO (and please, I do not want to start a war with the Stoptech owners...like I said, they are awesome and a very proven product and I am sure I would have been thrilled with them as well).

That's when the Sparta Team stepped up and made me an offer I couldn't refuse...and I am really psyched have them installed next week. I can't wait to see them behind my BBS LM-Rs.

If you are seriously interested in purchasing a BBK, then as with any significant purchase, I would highly recommend that you research the technical aspects of the different products, then actually go through the RFP process of acquiring quotes from several distributors/vendors and then and only then...pick the one that best suits your needs and budget.

As we all know very well, the MSRP is just what is says...a suggested price. Once you go through the RFP process you will find that that the MSRP is not the vendors best price. There are usually some discounts and specials available that you don't know about until you actually ask them for their best price.

As for comparing the Sparta BBK to the other BBKs, I think the Sparta Triton BBK should be compared to Brembos and Stoptech's Trophy series...not Stoptechs entry level BBK, the ST60/ST40. The Sparta Triton BBK are forged from aluminum to be lightweight and strong, the calipers have a larger frame for ventilation, they are the only BBK to use ARP hardware, they utilize quick release pins for ease in swapping out pads, and...near and dear to my heart...they are anodized, so they will maintain their attractive appearence much longer than paint and powdercoat. Also, there is significant technology in the pistons that appealed to me. The rotors are free floating 2 piece design front and rear, rotor hats are machined from billet aluminum for strength and lightness and I personally really like the unique S-groove look.

More review to follow once they are actually installed on my car and I review their stopping power, pedal feel, noise, vibration, fade, etc.

Spot on. These brakes were pretty much forged to perfection. The engineers really hit the nail on the head with this kit. They are a newer company but also proven on track and spreading to more applications. They were built to last and will be well known pretty soon for sure. Their products speak for themselves.

Brakes are finally on! Please see pics I added to the original post. Sorry about the lousy iphone pics. Better pics to follow. Brakes work amazing, pedal feel is sublime, much better than OEM in everyway, no unnecessary noise...major stopping power to be sure. Fronts bolted right on, rears required minor trimming to the rear dust shields. Car looks amazing.

Awesome kit, man. If I didn't already have stoptechs (which I'm quite enthused with, I should say) these would definitely be on my short list. They look truly engineered.

That all said, hard anodizing can fade from heat and sun too. What's the guarantee that these won't in track applications? Different process? Genuinely curious.
