i have a winter set with Blizzaks and i dont consider the ride rough at all. if you get high-performance winter tires, you'll be fine. all-seasons do absolutely nothing well, whereas, dedicated winter tires are just as good in cold weather as summer performance tires are in warm weather.

Excellent advise. This way I can just leave everything like I have it. I can give you ride in the M when it starts snowing. When shall I pick you up?

as for those shopping for Winter Tires
Heres TireRAck Winter tire Comparison Charts http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...port%20Package ex. a comparison between Blizak and Pilot Alpins Blizzak overall rating is a notch above Alpins, its pretty good on heavy snow traction compared to Alpins but loses on Hydroplanning against Alpins Its really a matter of choice, if you expect to use it in a heavier snow condition it will win against Alpins. However, since DC Metro is not like North Dakotas Winter snow, you may want a better ride quality, noise comfort and better thread wear, Alpins has a slight edge over Blizzaks rougher reported ride, due to its better heavy snow traction (see charts) Its all a matter of tradeoffs. Whats good for the gander maybe not good for the goose.

but overall using the same charts
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...port%20Package SP Winter Sport beats Blizzak and Alpin however SP Winter Sport 3D loses on Heavy Snow Traction over Blizzak, but SP Winter Sport M3 does not and SP Winter Sport 3D wins over ride and noise comfort against the 2, but the SP Winter Sport M3 loses to Alpins in ride and noise comfort amazing analysis thats why if I ever get a trade in deal on my e90 for a smaller commuter car, its Winter Pilot Alpin new owner will be happy with his new winter set but of crse A/S tires are another debate with it own merits
