OFFICIAL: 335i Fuel Pump Recall

I was told by my SA that BMW has started a campaign to recall fuel pumps actively.

I can't find out anymore information so I was hoping if any members out there could find the production dates for vehicles that actually apply to this recall that would be great!

This is a voluntary recall.

This is a re-issue now in Sept 2008 of an older Service Information bulletin which supersedes SI B13 02 08 dated February 2008

Looks like the NEW high pressure pump number 13 51 7 592 881 is different tho.. was 13 51 7 585 655 in the old version ... so hope springs eternal...

So, just to be clear, there's no need to upgrade the car's software when replacing the fuel pump, right? I'm so scared of getting the turbo lag that I'd only have maintenance if necessary...

I had my 2007 335i in for the recall last week and they did not have to reprogram the car. I insisted on it....and then turned around the day after and got a 2009.... go figure.

SA over here is insisting this recall does not exist. My build is 1/08.

Why did they drive your car 3 miles while it was in? Doesn't take that long to see if the fuel pump works or not.

We test drive cars to verify repairs. Make sure there isn't a fuel leak. No wierd noises after wards. Nothing left loose. Anytime we do a repair to a vehicle we are required to test drive it.

Good luck man... Changing it with a POS might cause that one to fail. I probably wouldn't change mine if it wasn't needed.

and then a couple years later your HPFP fails.. better to do it now when they are willing. Does anyone know how long the install takes?

O waaaat really?? That's good.. because I'm starting to hear some long cranks in the engine.. hopefully I get my recall mail before it fails .

Does anyone know if intakes have anything, I mean ANYTHING to do with the fuel pumps failing?? I'm thinking about just leaving my AFE intake in the engine if I get to have my fuel pumps replaced for the recall.

OMG, I am going to be so happy once this gets posted on BMWusa.com's recall section.

I will take my car in for the new pump and never have to worry about holding onto all my Shell gas station trip receipts!

Might want to take off the intake just in case.

So is it official? Or is this a type of call your dealer thing and see if they are willing to do it right now?

And would you reccomend taking your car in to get the recall even if it hasn't given you any problems? My car has 16k miles.

Thanks!
