Cool DIY: Heated Seats, The final retrofit with OEM mats in Sport seats with leather

Hi mates,

Here I am showing you how to retrofit OEM heated mats into your sport leather seats.

It is not so easy but everybody can achieve it.

You have to dismount completly your seats and undo all the upholstery.
Then attach the heated mats and install the modules that are suitable for heated mats.

Finally add the switches and recode the IHKA, FAS and BFS.

This is only for seats with memory.
If you want to do it in manual seats, there are some changes:
- You will have to install 3 wires for each seat (positive, negative and control)
- You will have to add 2 small modules that controls the heat (they are managed by the JBE)
- You will have to recode the JBE.

Anyway this DIY could help for all kind of seats.

Enjoy it and feel free to ask anything you could need and please, leave your feedback!

Everything I needed was found at eBay:
Seat modules around 100USD each (USED)
Switches and trim around 60USD
Heating mats 150USD the complete kit (brand new)

The modules were very difficult to find but finally I got them

Regards

Thank you so much for this thread, heated seats are the only option missing from my build. Did you re-upholster and install everything yourself?

Yes I did. I friend of mine helped me but it is quite easy. It is very difficult to do it wrong.

You only have to tighten the leather properly. Even I tightened some wrinkles the leather had caused by the age.

Regards!
