How About A Chicago / Midwest Meet? - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I know there's enough of you e90 owners lurking around here to have a decent meet!

I'm tired of seeing all these east/west coast guys have all the fun.
Lets get something rolling!
Anyone interested or have suggestions?

Maybe a drive down to Starved Rock?
There's some beautiful twisty roads there.
Or just a meet Downtown.
Whatever.......

Please don't move this to the regional forum, it will never get seen, we'll never have a meet.

still don't have a car after my 330 was totalled, but i can drive my motorcycle downtown or maybe starved rock.....if downtown, where? Usually big bike meets happen at the BP gas station off of LaSalle and Ontario

Ok great, so now that we have some people we need to decide how much time we want to dedicate to this meet.
In other words, do we want to meet up down town at BP, maybe take a ride up LSD to belmont harbor or something.
1 hour and up for the meet.

Or do we want to make a afternoon out of it by meeting somewhere and then doing a drive together down to Starved Rock State Park, check out the park, drive some twisty roads and head back. 90 miles each direction plus local driving.
I'd estimate 5 hours and up to do this kind of meet.

I guess it depends on how much time most of us have to do this.

I'm down either way, or both. We could plan a local meet then a drive later, what do you guys think?

When? This weekend, next weekend, the one after that?
Saturday or Sunday?

I would say that later at night would be the best time to meet if we were going to meet up downtown. There is just so much traffic and congestion during the day and rush hour lasts till about 8 or 9pm. Do you think that we can do one early weekend morning, or a late weeknight....like 10pm or so? This would just give us a chance to meet up for an hour or so or whatever we feel like...to talk, check out our cars, and be able to relax without trying to dodge traffic. We would be able to park our cars on the street and there would be space during those times. The weather is going to be pretty crappy for the next week or so, so after this short meet, we can talk to each other...see what our schedules look like, and then try to round up a trip to starved rock, etc. and try to get more members to go with. Reading through the forum, it seems that there is almost a dozen of us within the chicago limits. Chitown, pretty sweet that you are trying to get something going here, as I wish that we had enough memebers get together to pull the same thing the west coast can do. Let's get this thing going!

I won't be able to make it this time...but if there is a next time...I may go depending on location. I don't like driving my E90 to Chicago since one time I had a bad experience during a weekend visit with my previous car(valet guys hit my car and I didn't see it till after the fact, I ran over a tire on the highway and it messed up my front bumper a little, then I lightly rear-ended someone getting off the highway......it was a great weekend!)

I'm in Indiana about 2.5 hours from Chicago.

next saturday good for me. don't want to stay out late and hard to do it on weekdays. best for me would be saturday anytime from 9-10am through early afternoon. I'm about 30min from the city no traffic.
