Thumbs up BMW Performance Intake

Hey guys-
Got my performance intake last night...installed it today. Install was pretty straight forward, had to decipher a few new pieces, as I had no instructions with it. I did learn something from the design which is not apparent from looking at pictures. The intake draws air from the front, using the same scoops above the radiator as the stock unit. What is different is that it is also pulling cold air from the base of the windshield...pretty damn trick! They have engineered this so that it is completely sealed from warm air from the engine bay. It took me a few minutes fit the new pieces together, but when I did, I realized the engineering that went into this. It is definitely more than just a pretty carbon fiber duct.
Now for the ride report. Initial start-up reveals slightly more sound, with the hood open you can her the vacuum sound , sounds faintly like the sound a turbo makes when under boost. Drive...throttle response definitely improved, engine pulls cleanly off the bottom, 4000rpm comes and goes quickly, all the way redline, pulls the like a beast. Butt dyno says the engine is definitely pulling harder...feels a little faster. Engine singing a beautiful song...damn!
Did some cruising on the same highway I use every day, watching mpg, looks like maybe one mpg better on the gas mileage...hmm. Can't wait to get the Eisenmann put on next, I think it will be a great combination. Thanks to Jason@Tischer for setting me up





The far end of the intake, up by the base of the windshield is another cold air air duct...fed by the "ram air" effect at the base of the windshield. They designed it to be well protected from water.

Man that thing looks good. Why do you think they opted for an additional duct from the windshield area as opposed to the brake duct area?

There is a high pressure area that builds at the base of the windshield...perfect spot to take fresh cool air.

How much area is the additional duct compared to the original ducts. The RealOem.com pictures and yours don't really show that detail. Interestingly I am taking my Eisenmann off tomorrow and replacing with the cat back BMW Performance system.

The "cool air" duct runs across the whole top of the air box and joins in just ahead of the filter. I didn't take any measurements, but if I had to guess, maybe 25-30% more air(purely a guess). That is what really impressed me about it. The shape of the box is also completely different inside. It looks like they must have done a lot of flow testing on it. Hope this helps...

mdemange-Why are you taking off your Eisenmann exhaust? Is it the real eisenmann or the one eisenhaus was selling? Just curious.

The best way to get it is thru BMWUSA as it might be different based on your car model.

3. And select the BMW performance part you want. The next page will show you the part description, number, and list price.

FYI. Tischer pricing is 20% less than the BMW list price.

i like it, how much, also I couldn't find it any where on BMW website, are you sure this is for 06 330i
