The Cooper S rocks. One trip to a BMWCCA HPDE and you'll see these cars kick ass on the track and are faster than cars further up the food chain. Tell your boy not to worry about his "image" just drive the Cooper S knowing how it really performs.

So you're basing your comments on what someone else told you about a Cooper??

Definately not. Drive one, then judge, especially the JCW.

Here is the factory JCW MINI Challenge race car - available directly from MINI as shown below, just not here in the US.

They aren't THAT gay. My wife has a Cooper S and loves it, and I enjoy driving it sometimes as well. With that being said, I don't feel quite as masculine when I drive it. It's KIND OF gay, but if your son isn't a flamer or metro he won't look gay driving it. I agree with others though, I'd get something big and slow for a first car.

On another note, where in the world are you getting one for $207/month? That's impossible unless you put about 10g down on a Cooper S, maybe more.

I think the Mini S is a great little fun car. I drove an S a while back at work and it was pretty quick/agile. Ignore the comments about it being gay, if you get it in a dark color then it will look good, at least for a guy driving it.

Not to mention that they can be modded to hell and made pretty fast.

The Mini S is awesome.
There's an all black one (paint, rims, interior, tint, all trim) running around town and it looks sick.

Apparently, the Americans that think the mini is girly have never lived in Europe. The mini is a nice solid car and is great for getting in and around assholes that hog the left lane, especially here in Florida.

So, what, it's a car that likes to have sex with other cars? How does a machine get to be "gay?"

I know gay guys that drive BMWs. Does than make BMWs gay?

I see this with testosterone addled guys talking about traditional sports cars, too. Small, agile, light are apparently traits that only gays and women are allowed to appreciate, I guess. I've never figured out how liking those traits in a car make a guy somehow not be also attracted to women...

Hmm. I like beautiful women and I like blue Mini Coopers, new and old. Head asplode.

36 month lease has 70% residual. You can get to this number with no options. But MINI's are all about options, so expect to pay more.

Is it a girly car? That's what my son thinks.

He wants something along the lines of a used WRX, 350z, Civic, etc. But financing those cost more money and plus to maintain them will cost extra knowing they are out of warranty.

Now, what would you guys do? Can he make it look like a sleeper? Can you get over the girly vibe with car?

He is 50/50 with the idea,

any thoughts you guys?

How can you get one for 200 bucks a month?

EDIT: I just read earlier in the thread and figured it out.

Your son is 16 and of course he wants a WRX or 350Z. Hell, i bet he even wants the Z twin turboed, just like on the TV show! You might want to not focus on whats fast and furious and a little more on whats safe and fuel efficient. He needs to LEARN to drive before he hits the streets and thinks hes fast and furious and ends up dead. Or worse, he'll kill some woman and her baby because of his inexperience and guess who will be the guilty one (and rightfully).....YOU.

I see hulk hogans kid come to mind with this thread.
sorry, but true.

^ It's the same with me. Who cares?

I hate wearing socks, and shoes for that matter, so I wear slip on dress shoes with no socks at work until the weather gets too cold. People at work tell me it's not summer anymore. So frig'n what. My feet. My life.

your kid should be appreciative of ANY brand new car when he's 16. If he complains about what you are giving him maybe he should ride the bus or a bike for awhile.
