First time at the roadrace course nearby -TWS

There were 4 driving sessions today. Each about 20 mins long. They are going OPPOSITE the normal direction - so turn 1 is really where turn 4 would be in a nascar race. Its really a combination of the 1 mile and 1.8 mile road courses on this map - http://texasworldspeedway.com/index.php?action=diagrams

I really started pushing it in the third session.
Put two tires off on one turn pretty good probably at close to 100. I

On the last session today I passed 2 vettes (both c6s one was a z06) and a supercharged 05mustang. I never got passed once on any session. Passed lots of miatas and s2000s earlier in the sessions

When I was getting on the front stretch on my next to the last lap I was doing 110 coming out of the big sweeping turn as I crossed the transition to the bank..

Not bad with runflats and just a little extra boost

The outfit is www.driversedge.net
The classes are 'green, blue, yellow, red and white.' Green requires an instructor rid and is for first timers. Blue is second up and CAN require an instructor. Probably 120 cars in all classes. Only the same colored class cars are out at the same time. Lots of c6s and newer911s.

Hope tomorrow is a bit warmer.

I'm in a pit group of 4 Caymans, one went waaaay off track and thru the fence between 4/5 and completely jacked up the front end and another caught air jumping the curbs out of the horseshoe and tore up some underbody, bad day for Caymans but I had a blast. What group you in?

Cool glad to see someone else here. I think its gonna be cooler in the morning but its supposed to warm up more and less wind.

Im in the green grp. I guess the instructor I had was just pushing me more than some of the others in the green group bc he kept saying hard on throttle and I was about to put some paint on some bumpers.

I was sucking pretty bad at first in t10/11 but started to get better at last sess.

I had a few turns where it was drifting real nice. But if I was the slightest bit off line it would use up the road real quick. The instructor said I was really smooth and was going about as fast as the car could go on many turns. Im thinking the runflats will take a beating on the shoulders tomorrow if I push it much more - time for some new meats before long anyway.

Sounds like you got one of the better, more aggressive instructors. See you out there tomorrow, sticky side down!

hella day at high speed. Perfect day, warmed up to low 60s
Got 4 more sessions today. About 100miles it appears most in the 70 to 100 mph range. Consistently was running 120 at the start/fin line and would back out shortly after. Ran 130 a couple of times but I was running people down so I really did not need to push it that hard always.

In the last session I started dead last bc the instructor had been out in his car with the previous group. Passed just about every car in my group from what HE said.

Still was not using all of the brakes at shutdown points NOR never got it on the floor ONCE over the two days except for the time I was behind a c6-z06 getting on the straight and I wanted to see how bad he left me.
I cant claim all the credit, the car makes just about anybody able to go real fast. I was probably driving 9ths throttle and break and full 10 in cornering ( just about every turn was sliding a little when I was down on the gas) traction control was barely blinkin on about 3 or 4 turns. Attempting to go faster (especially on the runflats) could have been tricky.

The runflats and the brakes did take a good beating though. Probably will need a brake job in a few thousand miles. Shoulders on the runflats AND tread is really feathered.

One guy in my group driving a e46coupe ended up eat a cone and it messed up his front spoiler and he just about ate the brakes up. Did not run the last 2 sessions.

Come to find out one s2000 yesterday not only fliped but went endover end. Two guys where taken to the hospital but nothing too serious.

There are pics - but it does not look like they posted them yet at - http://hart-photography.com/photocart/
My car is #44. I even tried to get some video but the mount only stayed straight for one of the sessions today. I got part of the last run.

Sounds like your hooked. Beware of the slippery slope of track mods.

The S2K incident was quite serious, the driver and instructor went off on high speed kink turn 7, another instructor told me they saw 10' of air under the car at one point and it was flipping end over end in a convertible with only the stock seat hoop...ugh, it could have been tragic.

Im not sure about being hooked. It sure is work

And it would have been more work in a manual trans car.

I think the only reason I was able to go as quick as I was was the step trans. If I had to deal with clutching/upshifting/downshifting I think I would have been much more likely to end up farming terra firma like some folks did. As it was, I was just about to concentrate on the line and work on setting the car up for the next turn and keeping it sliding just a little.
The one time the z06 left me on the straight I was right back on him in the next turrns to the point the instructor said leave him a little room incase he screws up.

edit - mpg
As a side note - I reset the trip computer and got about 10-11mpg on the runs on sunday. Not too bad.
