Very good point... go with a 8.1 Cummins diesel. Great torque and gas mileage...

Just do a full engine rebuild! Titanium everything! Need for speed status, lol. Then put on like 2 turbos and a supercharger. Your engine will be able to handle it, lol.

I want a big motor in the small body.

Cheers,
Im also looking to swap my e90 325i. Engine has high mileage and 2nd gear is gone in the trans (6spd). but ive spent the last 2 years getting everything else on the car ready for a swap. ive done all new suspension including e90 m3 control arms in all corners and complete m3 rear subframe rearend etc. big brakes and stainless lines rims and tires pretty much everything but the drivetrain is brand new. My first thought was ls3 and t56 but Im personally stuck between 2jz which wouldnt be hard to fit... and the s54 e46 m engine. Either way the block will get rods and pistons cause i plan on fabing my own turbo kit. Im looking to keep th car as functional as possible and not tearing it up to much. The obvious big issues are wiring for functionality and power managment. I think I can piggy back the factory ecu and a megasquirt to keep functionality. I will be starting in the near future and will keep posting on progress.

I emailed Stertman in sweden about this a few months ago..
They basically told me that if you want to go this route, u will need one helluva budget.
My budget was around 150-200k SEK (24000$) for a S65/N54 swap and even if you double that budget they still wasn't sure if the results would be satisfying.
And for that price u would get a very nice 335/M3 in Sweden.

There will probably be possible to do this swap cheaper, but if you want it to work like a stock Bmw no error codes etc.. then it would be allot cheaper to just buy a new car..
