Its been 2 days since I have been using mObridge with my iPhone. Here are few things that I noticed and I thought of sharing them with you all.

1. One of the playlist on my iPhone has more than 250 songs, but only the first 250 show up in iDrive. However, mObridge advertises that it supports more than 250 songs unlike the BMW iPod kit. Any idea what this issue is?

2. I tried using the Update Wizard to configure some of the options. I am not sure what 'First playlist', 'Numbered Playlist' and 'Full folder' options do. I noticed that Full folder shows the Album under Artists and thus limits the playback to only a single Album for an Artist, unlike First/Numbered, where they allow playback of all the songs of an artist without showing the Album under the Artist category.

3. An active phone call over Bluetooth does not switch automatically from mObridge to phone, after I turn ignition off and remove the key.

We have a MY09 X5 scheduled for programming tomorrow, I'll let you know if we get the same results.

In the meantime, let's keep the thread e9x-specific.

do all e9x vehicle have a most interface? I don't have 6FL and don't have bluetooth.

Is the ipod module the same as this but with bluetooth functionality?

I would like to be able to operate my iphone 3g via vehicle controls. phone, pandora, ipod? would this provide the solution?

To answer your questions:
1. All E9x have MOST fiber optic network.

2. Yes, iPOD module is same as this minus the Bluetooth.

3. The Bluetooth kit allows you to control your phone via steering wheel buttons. I myself use iPhone 3G with my X5. The phone functions will work over Bluetooth. But if you want to control iPOD functionality via steering wheel controls, you'll have to plug-in the iPod cable to your iPhone. The bluetooth kit allows stereo bluetooth audio streaming (A2DP), but iPhone currently does not support that. The version 3.0 of iPhone OS is expected to support A2DP, so you play music over bluetooth. However, the only problem with A2DP is that you wont see the track/artist/album listing on your iDrive. To see those, you'll need to physically connect the iPod/iPhone to the cable (which at the same time also charges the iPhone). Yes, you can use Pandora.

Just to follow up, X5 programming went without a hitch.

Great! So I guess the research that I had to do with Autologic to get 'correct' software released for E70 helped you too! Great news!

I contacted mObridge and they told me that the 250 songs limit for a playlist is correct and that's the max mObridge can handle. Also, they confirmed that it depends upon the cellphone if it can automatically switch active calls from bluetooth to ear-piece.

damn that 250 song limit per playlist sucks.

What if you just browse by song, is it limited to 250? or is it for playlists only.

as far active call switching from bluetooth to ear piece, are you talking about when you get home and you shut off the car, it hangs up the call? instead of rerouting the call back to the handset?

so how much labor cost am i looking at here on top of the module?

I looked up autologic techs and theres only two in all of california.

This is getting more complex than I originally thought.

How well does the SMS feature work for non idrive?

1. 250 limit is for everything...playlist, artist, album, etc
2. It doesn't hang up, it just doesn't switch automatically to the phone. so u'll have to switch it fromthe phone explicitly after u turn off the engine.
3. Labor cost is probably 2hrs for install and 1-2 hrs for programming the car.
4. SMS works on iDrive only if the phone supports it. Not sure about non iDrive models. Check the phoen compatibility here: http://www.mobridge-ipod.co.uk/docs/...lityMatrix.pdf

It depends on your specific carrier. AT&T for one does not support SMS with the iPhone on BMW displays.

Yes sir it was - the last update added X5-specific programming for mObridge and made things very helpful.

3.0B5 does not properly play through the audio connector at this time, this should be resolved when the iPhone software becomes final.

The final 3.0 iPhone firmware was released to developers on 06/08 after it was announced by Apple at WWDC. The same firmware will be released to public on 06/17. This is to provide the developer sufficient time to make their applications compatible with 3.0 and update them on Apps Store before 3.0 is released to public.

I tested the SMS feature and it doesn't seem to work. As far as I know, Apple has added only 1 new Bluetooth profile to iPhone and that is Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP). Will do more more testing and let you guys know. A2DP works flawlessly, so you can now stream stereo music from your iPhone over Bluetooth. mObridge bluetooth kit plays music without any issues.

Can't say about other installers and states, but it took my installer about 2hrs to install the kit. Autologic programming should not take more than 1hr, provided that the existing mObridge coding instructions are present/correct for your BMW Exx. In my case, it took us almost 2 weeks to get the correct E70 software released by Autologic.

All the iPOD browsing folders show up under CD1

Browse through your music just like the way you do it on your iPOD/iPhone

Phonebook gets synchronized whenever a paired Bluetooth phone is in range. *Some dummy phone numbers shown above.

A call in progress. You can pair upto 5 Bluetooth phones. The cellphone signal strength is displayed at the bottom.

iPhone connected to the iPOD cable. This cable can be installed in the center console or where ever you like. The dual microphone is installed behind the rear view mirrow.
