e90 sedan m3 conversion - possibilities

Hi All,

I know that this topic has been discussed multiple times in this forum. After all I didn't find any topic that has listed different possibilities. (If I'm wrong and it's already disgussed in this forum, please feel free to start those cool - etc. postings )

After brief study I found two good threads this:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3291192 - where magmd has some pictures of his project.

I also found this thread where ****** inc has some bodykits for hood:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...hlight=m3+hood
From ****** Inc's homepage I found also bodykit for front of the car.

With those two you'll get pretty much good solution (if those parts are good quality) but you'll still miss the fenders and actually the kidneys are still very much different. That's why I'd be very interested for the original look and feel of m3 sedan.

Has anyone listed what parts do I need to get that conversion of Magmd's? Link to correct thread is also appreciated

--
And to explain "Why on earth would I like to make that conversion to my 330d (Yes its Diesel) instead of buying new M3" (which is quite a common answer to all this kind of questions in this forum )

I live in finland. 330d costs here something like $76500 without any accessories. M3 sedan costs $156000. So its something like double as expensive than 330d. Besides the starting cots there is also monthly taxes based on co2 effectiveness... Tax for M3 is more than double as much as 330d (M3 something like $500 and 330d $300).

That's the reason why in Finland you don't want to buy low mpg petrol car.

Thanks in advance!

Vesa.

ps. I'm not going to put M3 badge on the back of my car... But I still like the overall look and feel of m3 on the front...

it sucks that cars cost that much in Finland you guys are closer to germany means less shipping costs and less traveling and it should cost less but i guess its because of the European economy or something ?

it is all about taxes. Here in austria, we pay a premium on the german car prices. not only do we have 20% vat, we have something upto 16% luxary tax. on top, running a car like a m3 would cost you 150 EUR in taxes every month - does not incl insurances or petrol...

Someone has told that only about 10% of all viewers take part of the online conversations. I've been in that 90% until now.

I've been viewing anonymously this forum for long time already but the step to start writing has been quite huge.

Actually I've bought my car from germany but Finland adds it's on taxes to them when the car is imported..

so my year 2006 330d sedan cost me $37000 in germany but when imported to finland I had to pay $9800 tax for it. Total cost was around $47000. But that's still much less than in Finland.

----

That was about taxes and prices... I'd like to hear about conversion

Thanks for that.

I've been watching that site multiple times but that's not the first one to do

I think rear is quite good. What I'm interested is the front.

vesa.

ps. I still think that I'm not going to put m3 badge at the back of my car.

pps. Did you rsyed get your car today? On your homepage is says that its going to come today.

I've started a monology

After deeper investigation found out that "longtran" might be the person I was looking for.

This thread speaks quite a lot towards him: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68803

I'll send him pm and look forward.

Thanks for anyone.

ps. If someone has a already made diy-guide for m3 conversion please don't hesitate to send

vesa.

damn thats a lot for that car over there in finland. but the m3 conversion would look very good on your sedan and you would be the first to do it on the diesel...

longtran has had an E90 325i, an E92 335i, and now an E90 M3. If you're wanting to do a conversion, ask him, because he knows what fits and what doesn't. Aside from the hood, the fenders, bumper and headlights, there are some brackets that may require modifying to make everything fit just right. And this is just the front end. The rear end requires the rear quarter panel and bumper.

Thanks,

I Sent him pm earlier today. I'd appreciate help and advice. Hope he's not too busy

I'm happy with the rear so at the moment I'm not going to do anything for that.

Vesa.

Definitely go with Longtran. Here are more recent pics of my ride.

He did my conversion from Sedan to Coupe. He also did my conversion to M3 front. He also did Brandon conversion from coupe to M3.

Go here to see what we did in the coupe conversion. Its more simple now because all parts are available OEM. Before, we had to get parts fabricated. But still a good info to know!!

The job that you have done is amazing!!!. Would you think that will be possible to guide through the conversion from 335 sedan into M3? I am basically interested in the front . The only problem is that I live in South America

335 conversion would be exactly the same as mine.

You need alot of parts. Hood, fenders, bumpers, sideskirts, front grilles, vents, headlights, mounting brackets, airducts, sidemarkers, washer resevoir, mirrors, and plastic seals.

We purchased all of this through BMW dealer. Once you get everything painted, then you need someone that can take your old parts off, and put on the new parts for you. There will be MINOR adjustments here and there. But 90% is basically straight bolt on with all the new parts.

The hard part is getting all of the parts from dealer. You need part#'s. Again...longtran did mine and took care of ordering everything that was needed.

Also, you will have to do some MINOR splitting of a wire for the headlights to work properly since you are going from sedan version to coupe version headlights.

Hi Pacha and Magmd,

I sent pm to longtran about part numbers few days ago. If/When I'll get a list of part#'s I'll post them here.

It would help us all to get that conversion.

all in all, if i just wanted to do this with the front of my car (headlights and front bumper, dont care for vents or full m3 look, just like the coupe headlights) how much would it run me? with paint installation and everything?

You could buy my coupe conversion kit that I have in storage. You are in LA? It would be super easy to get the parts to you and do the install. Plus, my parts are ALREADY painted Black Sapphire Metallic!!! PM me if you want any specific details. (basically you could do it ~$3k out the door)
