I want everyone on this forum to watch and listen to this youtube video for all that have sympathy for the palestinians and hamas and all keep refering to the US being afraid of Israel. Watch and listen. Each and everyone of you that feel Israel is such an aggressor should watch this.

Saw Obama on the tube today. I did a cut and paste from Yahoo on part of his speech:
Obama said that Mitchell, 75, will travel to the Middle East "as soon as possible" to help stabilize a Gaza cease-fire declared separately by Israel and Hamas but already threatened by renewed smuggling though tunnels under the border between Gaza and Egypt . "It will be the policy of my administration to actively and aggressively seek a lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians, as well as Israel and its Arab neighbors," he said. However, Obama made it clear that he doesn't intend to reverse former president George W. Bush's refusal to talk to Hamas . The group, he said, first must renounce violence, recognize Israel's right to exist and accept past peace agreements. The Yahoo link is: http://news.yahoo.com/s/mcclatchy/3151355 This evening I heard Hamas has declared: "Obama is just like Bush" and they are bringing in more rockets for round 2. Great! Hamas is so full of hate that they will let more of their own people die. For what? Hamas' enemy is not the Jews...it's HATE. Life is not as important as their daily dose of HATE. If they were successful in destroying the Jews, they would just move on to someone else to hate, another country, another race, another religion, another branch of their own religion, who knows. The Hamas leaders are blinded with hate beyond reason. Israel is like a hornets' nest and Hamas is like the dumb kid with a stick. The difference is - the dumb kid soon learns to just leave the hornets' nest alone. The USA will not change direction with Hamas under Obama and Hamas knows that. The peace process is 100% in the lap of Hamas. My ever-so-humble-but-accurate opinion is my own. |

Give the Palestinians hope and Hamas will disappear into Oblivion. Hamas doesn't want Obama to succeed because they will have no future if there is a resolution to the conflict.
Hamas is a product of the refugee camps created by the conflict That is all they are. If the young people in Gaza see a future why would they join Hamas or other terrorist groups. It takes a lot of hate and a total lack of any hope in the future for someone to strap a bomb to themselves. There needs to be a final resolution of borders and end to the conflict. Neither side of this conflict is truly innocent. Both sides need to makes concessions they don't like and learn to live with each other. |

Good points. I wondered about the logic of continuing to poke a hornets' nest. You're 100% right, Hamas is a product of the situation.
Again I think you're right about Hamas not wanting Bush, Obama, Anybody to succeed. HAMAS NEEDS the Israelis to attack their people. The few deaths that occur will insure a steady supply of bomb strappers and outside support. I suppose Hamas views these deaths as expenses. I think Hamas has achieved its goals and Israel only thinks they are winning. Hamas knew they couldn't destroy Israel, but they could cause the Arab nations to ratchet up their support. Now that Israel has made the mistake and has this tiger by the tail, HOW DO THEY LET GO? This isn't Viet Nam where you say: " Sorry, we shouldn't have come here, can't talk now, the last chopper is leaving." Israel can't catch a plane back home across the sea. Any slack in security causes more rearming and suicide bombers. Who will secure the borders and insure the attacks stop? Obama is not changing the USA position with Israel and Hamas views him as another Bush. Sounds like square one. My ever-so-humble-but-accurate opinion is my own. |
