No - if it is at 3/4 full, it means you burned 1/4 liter. The graph represent the last liter only. When it goes down to zero, the car will tell you to add a liter.

There's no need for concern, and no need to add more oil, when you are less than 1 liter down.

Because this allows alerting the driver if the oil level is low, before it gets to the point of low oil pressure. You would be surprised how many people never check their oil level, and I know some who wait for the oil pressure light to come on to add/change oil in their cars (usually women)...

okey i just did my oil change last night. i top it off with 4.5 liters of mobil-1. i checked the the oil level and it was OK. now this morning after driving my son to school the oil sign came up then i pulled over and checked the my oil level it say ( +1l ) wtf? i've been reading your post saying that it should be 6.9 quarts = 6.5 liters. now my question is should i drain the 1.liter of oil or wait for the sensor to make up it's mind. i've been doing alot of oil change on my previous cars and this is the second to do it on the 335i. any advice?

I've done 5 oil changes so far, each time using 6.5 and its at the almost all full line...

Try to unplug battery and warm up car see what it says?

You should have put 6.5 l of oil, not 4.5. "+1 l" means you have to ADD oil. When there is too much oil, the message is ">MAX". See owner manual, p. 128.
