Help! I scratched my baby =( - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I am so hurt right now.. Don't even know when I did it.

Any suggestions on how to remedy this? Will dealer touch-up paint work?

Be careful when making tight turns is parking lots guys, the front lip is relatively low.

That looks pretty bad. Is that black the bumper showing? If so I would get the bumper repainted. That would be a lot of touck up! Sorry.

Take it to a pro. Touch up paint alone just won't do the job with this.

Look at it carefually, is the paint scratched, or did you scratch the black off something onto the paint ? ( often someting on the paint )

if its something on the paint you can use a product like Meguiars Scratch X to remove it

If you scratched through the paint it would need repainting

no scratch X or any products can remove that SCRATCH! the paint is GONE! the only fix is the body shop. I guess it'll be a $500 repair job, cheaper if you know your own guy to do it.

Easy fix: get the carbon lip and it will hide the scratches and make it look awsome.

True. I was thinking the same thing. Follow E90Fleet's advice to see if the scratch really is a scratch in the paint. If it's something that needs to be repainted, you might want to consider the "cover-up" option to see if you don't get more value for the dollar in this solution.

True...the CF lip will definitely be better buy than repainting....

When I got the dents on my door...i was quoted $300, $370 and $450 at 3 different shops (the last one was a BMW pro). That quote included repainting an entire section of the door (to fix the three 1inch scratches) AND removing a 1 inch dent. I decided to touch up as I didn't want to risk my door having a different color than the rest of the car.

leosong11, I would estimate $250 - $350 if you were to repaint. (austin, texas area prices).

Hey guys, thanks for the remarks. It is definately a scratch in the paint- sorry the pic is bad. I am really considering the carbon fiber lip. How much and how does it install exactly?

At least you only need the right one... so you can save some money that way.

The carbon fiber corner is a solution, but it looks too boy racer for my tastes. In 2 weeks, I've done the same damage TWICE. The spoiler is much lower than my old e46. I was going to get it fixed, but I'm sure I'll just do it AGAIN.

I had a similar type of scrape on my old E46. I phoned a "Dent Master" type of place and they touched up the scrape right in my driveway! The quality was very good, and it was MUCH cheaper than a bodyshop. $100.00 Worth checking out.
