Nice. Does it take longer to scroll through b/c of so many entries? Where did you get the BB update from?

Sorry for the late reply underdawg ......... I was about to plop money down on 8700, when I discovered my employer was offering 4.1 on 7290, as part of their latest offering ...... my bberry links to company bberry server to sink handheld with laptop email (Lotus NOtes), calendars, address book etc........I would think though that if employer offers it ...... it would be generally available ? Previous checks however with BBerry direct did not show it (that was over a moth ago however) ............ whats your situation?

You are my hero man, this is what I was waiting for!!! I was right about to drop 5 bills on 8700. More detail would be appreciated like how do i get 4.1. how easy is it to scroll with so many entries? The BB has no voice tags so this means lots of scrolling. Also is there a cradle availble for BB7290???

Not sure where you get 4.1 ....... I had done some searching 6 weeks ago and came up short, I know there are Singapore versions available, per some of the earlier threads (few months ago), but attempts to download failed.

Since signing up for this Corporate program ........ I am tied to what employer makes available ........ just so happened that the download they had for 7290 was 4.1. That said, I would think that it must be available from RIM?? Company is not going to run a nonsupported version for worldwide deployment.

I have not used the book in the car to any great degree yet ........ but first half dozen attempts have been relatively easy ........ yet to see what can be accomplished with voice and address book ......... I have not had much success with voice in general ........ I found paging through with the handle quite easy, as you break out your names by letter select first ........leaves 15 to 20 names per letter on average .......

Once you load 4.1 do the following:

1. Click options (the wrench)
2. Click Bluetooth
3. Select BMW Bluetooth Device (You may have others)
4.Click Options
5. Click Address Book Transfer (This function will not appear prior to 4.1)
6. Select and CLick All Entries or Hotlist ( I selected all entries)
WHen I sat down in the car to "go to work" on the transfer, I discovered it had already occurred.

Hope that helps ........ good luck finding with 4.1 ........... I'd bootleg you corp copy, but I'm afraid not an option.

Thanks for the post!

Ironically when I purchased my 2005 330xi last year my Blackberry 7290 did not work, so I had to purchase a RAZR. Now with my new 2006 330xi my RAZR does not work, but thanks to this post I now use my Blackberry 7290!

I have cingular and went to their website to get the 4.1 upgrade. The address book and voice commands work great.

Now we just need a snap in connector for the blackberry...

Thats great ......... sounds like BBerry has now posted 4.1 for 7290. I have not played too much with voice commands yet. The few tests I have made have been very frustrating........what voice sequences have you found most useful .......... I am very "mouse" literate and have found it useful and "nondistractive.........

Even nicer -- I just setup a bluetooth connection between the blackberry and my desktop. The blackberry can now stay in the car on a charger, and it synchs automatically with outlook on my desktop when I pull into the garage.

Love it!

Using the same Blox ........ pretty cool ......... curious if you ever run into the call interupt I have experienced occasionaly in the car.........while on the phone, an inbound call cuts directly and quietly in, dropping the intial call and initiating the new one, with no notice...........you are talking to someone else mid conversation and you don't even know it ........... careful what you say!

I have not had the call interupt problem you mention, but I will watch out for that. I have call waiting disabled, so I suspect that would be the issue.

My last issue to resolve is how to get the desktop to automatically accept the connection from the blackberry via bluetooth. Currently when the blackberry comes within range, the desktop says "would you like to accept this connection" or something like that. Quite annoying.
