Can you guys help me decide between these two colors? I'm really confused!

Jet Black is a pure black, glossy and reflective when clean. Black Sapphire Metallic is a metallic color, and appears more of a dark gray in the sunlight. There's basically no difference between the two in the dark. The configurator on the BMW website really isn't too useful.

What you need to do, if you're trying to decide between these colors, is go to a dealership during a nice sunny day and look at the two colors side by side. Posting a poll on the site is just a popularity contest...what's important is for you to see the cars in person and decide what you like.

You need to go look for yourself - opinions aren't going to help you.

One is black - the other is metallic black. Go decide for yourself.

Are swirls marks going to visible on metallic black as well under sun light?
When people say that metallic black paint is better in hiding swirls, how true is this? From what I see, any dark color will make swirls easier to see under light, including metallic, at least that's what I can measure. How true is this and can you guys share some light into this?

Thanks again

+1 Well said.

Both colors show swirl marks but jet black shows them more. Jet black looks better when it's perfect, but it's harder to keep perfect.

The best thing to do is follow willa1975's advice and check them out side by side. That's what I did - for an hour!

All dark colors will show swirls if not washed properly. Either way, you have to maintain your car more than other colors and if you like maintaining cars, then black color will be the most rewarding than any other color, IMO.

Like the other dude above me said, Jet black looks better, classier and has a deep shine to it when clean and waxed. Much better than black sapphire metallic - I've asked this question to people who have owned both these colors. Hope that helps.

Jet black for now, maybe black sapphire metallic on my next BMW. I like both!

PS: This post is not that helpful IMO, seems more like a popularity vote, i.e. if there are more members who own black sapphire than jet black, obviously black sapphire is gonna be the winner.

Can't anyone make a decision for themselves any longer? Especially something as trivial as color choice?

Where's Canuck Lion? He needs to slay this thread.

Some people depend on the opinions of other people and can't decide, why do you think we have these polls for? Ain't I free to ask such questions?

Why do you need the opinions of other people to decide on something like Color Choice? It's the most basic definition of a personal decision. I think you'll be much happier if you make the decision yourself instead of letting other people make it for you. If you were to ask for the Pros/Cons of one color over the other, that is a different matter because it can be quanitified with facts. Do you really have two prospective cars with each color that you're trying to decide between? Or are you just curious which is more popular?

Good lord. You have three polling posts on the topic of color. Just choose one, for the love of god.

Search search search. In other threads where this question was asked, I've posted side by side photos and details of the flakes in the metallic black. Decide whether you like that. I do.

Jet is deeper black, no doubt about it. But detailers will tell you that it's quite soft, as far as BMW paints go. So while both will show swirls easily, JB is much more prone to swirls because of the soft paint. Metallic paints are slightly thicker and harder, at least in this case. They also are harder to match and blend seamlessly, if you get in an accident.

ok. You're probably right and I'm over reacting. But it does seem somewhat excessive to have three polling posts about color, don't you agree?

Well, seeing as how the OP only has a 10 post count ........ some slack needs to be given.

Yes, agreed ...... excessive and could have been more beneficial to the OP to have kept the original post active ........ ing would've been good too. OP will learn soon enough .......
