Latest word (as of last Friday) I believe is that they have already ordered these paddles for us from Germany. Expect at least a 2 to 3 week delay until Tischer gets the parts and then can send them out to all of us.

If you login to your account at getbmwparts.com it should give you a status of the order or any notes.

Guys, we are ordering these on a case by case basis as you order them through the site. Once you submit the order, we manually change the price to the GB price, and the order gets sent to BMW. We are NOT ordering a batch of these upfront.....but rather as each order comes through. Please allow 2 - 3 weeks for the parts to arrive here from the time you place the order through our site as they are on national backorder here in the US.

Righto. Thanks for clarifying!

Hmm...it's going to be hard to wait 3 weeks for these things.

Word to the wise...if you are Canadian...and you are able to ship stuff to an US Postal outlet and pick it up...do it. Snail mail from US is so sloooow. Argh.

USPS Tracking
Electronic Shipping Info Received, March 09, 2009
International Dispatch, March 13, 2009, 10:55 pm, FOREIGN CENTERJERSEY CITY NJ 099
Arrived Abroad, March 17, 2009, 10:50 am, CANADA
Into Foreign Customs, March 17, 2009, 10:50 am, CANADA

Canada Post Tracking
2009/03/09 International item mailed in origin country
2009/03/13 International item has left the origin country and is en route to Canada
2009/03/17 International item arrived in Canada and will be reviewed by Customs
2009/03/20 International item released from Customs for processing by Canada Post

At least it is released by Customs now. Who knows how much duty they will ding us.

Thought I should update this thread. Finally received my paddles!

Installed them yesterday. A few couple things to note:

1. Larger/wider than stock paddles...so much easier to reach with fingers. Stock paddles I had to stretch my fingers to reach...these DCT paddles rest just under my fingers when I loosely wrap my fingers around the M3 steering wheel.
2. Much more intuitive to downshift/upshift than stock
3. Definitely more tactile feedback when pulling lever compared to mushy plasticky stock paddles. Tranny feels more responsive because of tactile feedback.
4. Find myself driving in manual mode more. And more aggressively. Hmmm...downside of this mod is that I'm using more gas. Darn...

Many thanks for Evan and Jason @ Tischer for setting up a group buy and sending out the order for these.

Pictures to be posted this weekend.

do the +/- signs light up like the m5 and m6s? are the m3 paddles the same as the m5/m6? if so can we fit those paddles and have the light?

No. The -/+ signs are painted white. They are not illuminated.

The M5 and M6 paddles are completely different dimensions and shape. M3 DCT paddles and OEM 335i paddles are held in by one screw. M5 and M6 paddles use two screws. Plugs look different as well.

Might feel a little awkward using a M5/M6 paddle on a 3 series steering wheel...since those paddles are not ergonomically designed for the 3 series steering wheel. If you are brave enough...maybe you can try retrofitting. Anything is possible with some time and money.

Meh. Tischer rocks of course but $500~ bones is too rich for my taste for this mod. This is not that much of a complicated electronic part.

100% plug and play.

As long as your car comes with the paddle shifters from factory, you are fine. Just unplug stock ones...plug in new ones. Converts from stupid rocker paddle shift style to F1 paddle shift style--left side only downshifts or right side only upshifts. Much more intuitive! No wiring cutting or messing about needed.

If you don't have paddle shifters from factory...you need to do a paddleshifter retrofit. Do a search...there are threads abound about this topic.

Ahhh...the cost-worthiness of a mod is in the eye of the modder.

Lots of things some people don't think are worth it. And others think they are. I remember when I had my 325i...some people spent ~$300 to ~$400-ish on air intakes (some spent $1,000--like when the Gruppe M intake first came out and there was no replica) which adds maybe 3 to 5 hp.

Why not spend the money on a mod which you will feel and see everyday? *shrug*

It's not like this part will really drop in price in future either. Sure it's not a complicated part...but you likely won't be able to manufacture one yourself for cheaper. And it's not like an M3 driver will be selling theirs. It's kinda an essential part if you have DCT. I've heard of someone selling them used for $400 on this forum...and that was a deal. So only about $75 price difference from this group buy.

Sorry forgot to answer this question.

It seems in some markets, the M3 DCT paddles look different. Some come with a more of a "bubble" where the +/- signs are. I have also seen the red +/- signs. They also come in black. I believe these are some Asian markets. Unaware if these may or may not be illuminated. (Doesn't look like they are illuminated in the photos I've seen).

See attached file. Note how there is "bubble" on paddle...where the +/- sign is. Mine is completely flat.

Not sure if this means they are illuminated or not if they have a bubble. No different part #'s available.

IMHO...flat paddles with no bubbles look best. Red +/- signs looks kinda tacky from the photos...IMHO. But I am biased...because I have painted white +/- signs!
