selling my system..2 12inch W3V3. new 2006 model with hifonics amp..you can have the sub box if you want or not. i cant get passed the sealed trunk BMW makes. i dont have a cold weather package so my seats dont fold nor the ski bag hole. the bass is great in the trunk, but not loud enough in the car..so decided to sell..this system is 2 weeks old..used in my car about a week..i have a low voltage trigger i will throw in for anyone who wants...subs retail about 300-350 a piece amp about 150-200..looking to get around $625....buyer will pay shipping if not local..

Why don't you cut a whole, where the armrest folds down for the back seats? Did you think of that? =]

yea i did...debated back and forth on it..even had the black fabric that would cover the whole so it looked like there wasnt no hole..but i just dont want to go through all of that right now..

I think you need to change amplifiers. Maybe double the watts? And buy a capacitor.

same as if you had iDrive..get a hi-lo converter..tap that into your factory amp in the trunk..to get the RCA signal you need for the amp. run the power wire to the battery..run a ground wire..and for the remote wire..i used a low voltage trigger that went on once signal was sent to my rear speakers..(i'n throwing in the low voltage trigger) its not expensive but saves you from ordering one..

Ok, I went to the trunk. But my car doesnt have that steel thing in the picture. Maybe thats the factory amp I was looking for that wasnt there.

the picture above is the factory amp..when you open the trunk on the left you will see a gray plastic piece..pop that up and then you will see the silver amp in the picture above..

So you say the 2 12JL's are not enough for you? How much louder to do you need it? Looks like the box may be too small for those 12's? Is it just one of those prefab boxes and you just put the 12's in it? I have a JL 10W3 in a JL box made for my car with a 600W Soundstream and it rocks pretty good.

Ok Now I get it. The thing is I dont see the factory amp in my car.. I dont have one. But where the fac. amp. is supposed to be are some cables covered in a rolled velcro sheet, maybe I can make some kind of fit the new amp to fit those cables that most probably be optional amp cables.

i mean i hear the bass in the car..i know it can be louder in the car if the trunk was not so sealed shut..i dont want to spend that much $$ on the system and not get the best out of it..i know it sounds kinda weird/dumb..but i just dont see it as $$ being well spent in my part..i'd rather invest in the tvnav2go..

nope..your factory amp powers all your interior speakers..you are just using the factory amp to get the signal for your subs..you still need to keep your factory amp and add the hifonics one

hmmm..no factory amp? can someone else help on this one..from what i know all the E90s have the factory amp in the same spot..the rolled up wires i believe is for a factory CD changer if you would like to add in the future..

yea my car has no factory amp either! allthats there is a black box of some kind and another set of wires wrapped in velcro for the CD changer but thats it NO amp...Not sure what the hell the black box is so can someone please tell me???

My factory amp is black... maybe the silver one is logic 7. Mine is the regular non-logic 7 north american sound system... i think that's professional or something like that to the rest of the world. Also, there may be a difference depending on if you have iDrive or not.

I don't know about non-north american cars... cuz I'm not familiar with the other level audio systems that come stock.

You see my line output converter with built in low voltage trigger in these pix too.
