Mine creaks so much everytime I hit a bump I can still hear all the squeaking in my sleep. I'll try some lube to the door seals see if it helps.

Two dealers have been asked to look into the problem, and both either failed to fix it or preferred not to try, even though I gave them references to the several DIYs that have been published on this forum.

Well, Well, I to have the same CREAKING from the back shelf area. Very noticable the past 3 months espescially the colder days. Most noticable when backing down a slight incline, like a driveway, and turning the vehicle into the laneway,(torsion forces really bring this out), and the car really starts to tell you about it! Thanks to previous posts I can indentify the cause due to the plastic vent grill in contact with the glass window on the back shelf area.. Too bad this e90 series seems to have this issue too. It is constant now...good find for "Rear grill/parcel shelf crack-creak/sound fixed"
(all this happened before and it will happen again))

Having it looked at and to be fixed I hope when I have the summer tires mounted next week.

im currently getting my vehicle fixed for this issue. its been 3-4 days now =/. at first they tried to pull the "we cant replicate the sound" bs. You just have to go on a drive with them and let them hear it.

Never buy one of these without test driving. Squeaking interior drove me crazy and I'm not paying 120 bucks an hour for them to try and find where the sounds are coming from before they estimate how much to charge me to fix it. Prob create more rattles and squeaks taking the interior apart to correct the first problem.

UPDATE: Last week I took my 2009 E90 335i to Concord (CA) BMW for an oil change (low mileage) and to have them diagnose and correct the 1994 Grand Am-like creaking.

They wound up replacing the door seals on all four doors (they are called "Window Guides" on the repair ticket). I was told a TSB existed (sorry, didn't get its number) regarding this issue. My car no longer creaks!!

For reference, the part numbers are 51-34-7-060-257/258 for the left and right rear, respectively, and 51-33-7-060-241/242 for the left and right front, respectively.

The car has been perfect since...thanks to all who provided advice/guidance.

Yup, mine creaks from the back shelf area too when its cold out (until the interior warms up a bit). It sounds almost like the metal buckle of the seat belt tapping up against the glass. Fortunantly, I haven't noticed it as much lately since it's getting warmer.

If there's an official TSB though, I'll consider taking it in. I don't want them ripping apart unnecessary parts of the car.

It amazes me that this problem still plagues newer cars like the E9x. I had the exact same problem on my E46 and am going through the same issues with my E39. Really freakin' annoying. I consider myself lucky that my E90, at least during the time I owned it, never squeaked.

My solution in the E39 (just as it was in the E46) is to very slightly crack open the windows. Eliminates 95% of the squeaking. I also tried adjusting the door striker plate to create a tighter door seal, and while it seemed to reduce the squeaking initially, it didn't take long for the noises to return.

Yes, there is an official TSB released by BMW recently for the popping/cracking/rattling sound that come from the rear parcel shelf..

Hi Fellow Beemer drivers....

Yea I know this has been bled dry now but just want to let you all know...

I've been driving about with creeky doors for nearly a year now and it was driving me nuts...!! I nearly sold the damn thing cause of the creeks...
So today before I went that far I bought some WD40 and got an old pair of socks... soaked them in the stuff and went round my door seals and took my time cleaning them even between the door edge and rubber seals. Went round them all twice and let it dry off..

So went a run tonight over my usuall nightmare creeky routes and not a squeek not a creek nothing... soooo quiet and such a pleasure to drive... Just wish I had done it before now. I love ma Beemer now..!!

IF YOU HAVE CREEKY DOOR SEALS... GIVE IT THE WD40 TREATMENT...!!!

Interesting, I always thought that you weren't supposed to use petroleum or silicone based lubricants on the rubber parts, especially the door seals. The smell itself would keep my from spraying that stuff anywhere near my car.

Alternatively, I've had great success with 303 Aerospace, and I've heard that the Wurth Rubber-care gel stick works wonders too.

I have the same problem with my 09 E90...Ive used Gummi Pfledge and it works well for a while. It usually happens when I go over speed bumps or uneven road surface.

Yea I thought that too... but tried sylicone spray etc and that made it worse...

I sprayed the cotton with the WD40 away from the car cleaned the seals and edges and let it dry (doors left open). I don't smell it now at all.

Never had it so quiet. It was always quiet on nice even recently surfaced roads but the uneven rough roads were a nightmare. In recent times the councils have been ignoring the pot holes etc, sign of the times no money to spend on re-surfacing these days...

A BMW techi told me this morning to clean them all with WD40 as they do this in the stealer... Had mine in today getting the rear brake pads done.

Really works a treat.. The creek comes from where the TOP door edge meets the seal he told me.

Anyone have a rattling coming from the plexi-glass that encases the speedometer/tach/etc? It's like those two hex screws need to be tightened, but that doesnt seem to help!

It drives me bat-shit.

I have a 2010 335i with less than 1,000 miles and just noticed the door rattling noises. Sounds like the door is not shut tight or the interior upholstery is not properly sealed to the doors. I notice the creaking when I accelerate the car from a stopped position. It sounds metal expansion noises. Then when I am cruising around 25MPH, the rattling noises begin. I e-mailed my dealer and I will mention it next time I go in for service and mention this forum.

We never even left the parking lot when he acknowledged that there was creaking all over the place. He said it was the door seals and that it's a known issue. Pretty awesome how they took ownership of the issue right away. The only negative is that I have a Pontiac Vibe as a loaner... booo.

I'll post another update once I get my car back (hopefully today or tomorrow).
