Italy, Italy, Italy....

So, I posted links to my European delivery photos on Bimmerfest a while ago, but since not all of you hang out there, I thought I'd share here too.

Only a couple of weeks left until the car gets here....

I wish that I had the chance to drive out to Italy while doing my ED. Pics are awsome, now the worst part is waiting to get your car back.

Awsome pictures! I just returned from a 10 day vacation to Rome. I am getting a black 330i this weekend.

BTW Didn't they tell you like a 1,000 times NOT to take a picture of the Sistine Chapel?

I'm sorry... I can follow instructions, but I would still take pictures. If I flew all the way to Italy, you better fuckin' believe I'll be taking pictures back with me.

I took some of the same shots in Venice. Really pretty little city. The Leaning tower of Pisa picture is funny... lol.. .guess you couldn't resist...

I think I will do ED for sure on my next BMW purchase, how much do you think you ended up saving?

Great pics btw, and congratulations on your car.

Good stuff!! Very nice of you to share those. How was it driving around Italy? I've heard they are insane there.

Trip was 10 days in total. The drive wasn't bad at all. We took the autobahn from Munich down to Venice and went via Austria. You make quick progress at 100-110mph. . We got the Nav, so it was relatively stress free.

Yes, they were like, "no photo, no photo!". I turned off the flash, held the camera at waist height and fired off a round. I was pleased it turned it out.

A canon 300D (the first digital rebel) mostly. Some snaps were taken using an Sony 3.3MP cybershot bought in 2001.

Saving? Actually nothing. I just paid the credit card bill... ouch. We saved loads on the car by doing ED, I'd say over $4k vs US MSRP. But ED is not about the savings. We spent what we saved and then some on the trip - and that was with free flights! It was just a nice way of having the car and the vacation.

Highways and small towns are fine - just watch for freakin' mopeds flying at you and expecting you to dodge them. Cities were fine too, with two notable exceptions - Naples and Rome. Naples is awful to drive around. No visible street markings or rules. It's automotive anarchy. With a brand new car, you end up reaching for the Xanax in a hurry.

However, if you're doing ED, make sure you get NAV. Nothing is intuitive when you don't speak the language and while you can get directions (lots of people know some English) NAV really takes the stress out of it and helps you enjoy the vacation.

I remember this while I was there so I did not take any pictures. I wish I could have but oh well. Your supposed to be silent as well.
