3M or XPEL?

For some reason I thought XPEL was a division of 3M or something? Anyway I'm thinking about getting a clear bra installed on my mirrors, headlights, foglights and the top of the rear bumper but I was wondering which product you guys recommend more --- 3M or XPEL?

EDIT: OK now I'm really confused. Is XPEL 3M or are they two different companies?

Haha. That's who I was planning to call tomorrow.

Did your friend install the clear bra on your car? Being totally honest, what kind of a job did he do? Also, think he'd give me a special deal since I know you and you're his friend?

Oh and off topic, but check out the group buy thread on the 5er. I brought the amount of required people down to 5 so if we get 2 or 3 more people (2 if Sedan_Clan is really in) you can just give me your 3er knob when I'm up there getting the clear bra installed.

No matter what the product name, make sure the base product is 3M. Also, the pre-cut kits can be disappointing. Suggest asking for prices on custom installation.

It's 3M film, Xpel is the company who produces the precut kits ready for installation.

Pre-cut kits are the way to go, unless you want cut marks all over your car.

X-pel kits are very good.

Pre-cut vs. custom

Not to be contrary, but even with the pre-cut, the tech that does the installation will take a blade to trim excess and any small rolls or bubbles. I stress small.

If they do it right the blade never touches the paint - it merely "scores" the film and then the film is torn away by hand. REALLY expensive cars don't even have pre-cut kits, the whole installation is done with flat sheets and blade cuts.

I've had mine done for a few months now and have been very pleased. With a quality installation it is definitely worth the dough.
