I have tried to look to see if there is a thread on this topic, but cant find any, so i will start one....
I love hooning the 330i round quiet smooth roads, test her out a bit. Its all about how much you enjoy the drive innit. There are lots of good websites on this subject and an excellent area on another forum. I have made an effort to drive a few of em so heres worth mentioning list in south wales.. in order of preference. 1) B4235 Chepstow to usk Smooth as a babies arse and just great. perfect for the beemer. 2) A4069 Llangadog - brynammon Proper rally track style on a welsh mountain, usually deserted. Amazing scenry and hairpins galore. Crappy surfaces tho, esp on runflats. 3) B4520 - Brecon to Builth Can be a bit busy but it is superb up and down, twisty ting. 4) A40 from brecon to llandovery - hooners delight. plenty giving it some. Popular with bikers. Surprised me this one. 5) A44 anywhere west of worcester. Hereford/monmouth/brecon/chepstow is littered with cool roads. Cmon, post em up ![]() Last edited by Swiller; 03-20-2009 at 01:56 PM. |

If we're going to list road numbers, can we also say where they start and finish, just so those who don't know the section/area get a better idea. I know you did R4R

That certainly is a great road - although when you get into Kimbolton I prefer to stay on the B645 and head out towards Higham Ferrars rather than stay on the 660 towards Catworth.
I used to drive that road everyday, and got pretty handy at traversing it at some speed, even in a wallowy old S70 Volvo!! When we did the first Cambs meet last year I took the boys on the B645 run from Hail Weston to Higham Ferrars and then coming back we did the B660 out to Catworth, so the lads could pick up the A14 to head back. What a blast! Have you ever detoured to Risely for a steak at the Fox and Hounds? - my favourite steak restaurant by far - maybe the next Cambs meet we should head in that direction and lunch there?

Its quite long but some of the stretches are just mind blowing but very dangerous - Top Gear do their stuff there as well.

East Yorks/North Yorks: B1248 from Wetwang heading north all the way to Malton, quite challenging.
A166 from Wetwang to Stamford Bridge including Garrowby Hill - fast road. B1249 Driffield all the way to Staxton - very challenging. B1225 south to Horncastle (Lincs). |

Favourite biking road A483 from Crossgates to Newtown. Made me get up at 5 on a Sunday morning just so that it would be almost traffic free. Very challenging with a mix of everything from fast long sweepers to narrow tight hairpins.
B4391 which goes through the Berwyn mountains from Penybontfawr to Bala is another good one and then on from Bala A4212 to Trawsfynydd which is very fast but watch out for plod. Any roads in Wales are great when there is no traffic on them. |

did the b4519 today, most of it a military firing range. Makes you feel as though you are not on public roads, deserted with a very high hooner ratio. A boneshaker but a great road, if a private rally track floats yer boat. Some old school rally cars up there today enjoying the fun.
