Oil change? - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

yeah yeah... this should be posted somewhere else or has been covered many times...
I just wanted to get feedback from the DC metro group.
what's your stand on doing oil changes before the dealers' recommendation?

Frank, thinking of doing it at 7,500 (halfway point), I have about 4,700 miles now. Its probably superfluous but as you know I am experience rather poor gas mileage so I'm thinking an oil change might help. I believe Passport is asking $85.

While I don't have the car yet, I long ago decided I'd do my first oil change at 7500 miles. I admit -- if I were leasing the car or otherwise knew I were only keeping the car 3 years or so, I might wait the full 15K.

Did oil change DIY close to 7500 miles ago, "Im hitting 15k, pretty ez, cost me $50 over the BMW counter, 7 qts oil, filter also you need a strap wrench.

I'd likely do it myself too around 7000 miles.

I had it done at 10k, but Ill be bringing mine in for its first scheduled maintenence Thursday...

Ill let you guys know how that one goes...

I just had mine done today (with 5400 miles) at Passport. Total tab with tax was 89.93.

I had my 15K done last week at Passport. It may be just in my head but the car did seem to drive a little smoother afterwards.
I completely forgot to do the midway oil change and if I can turn back time, I would have done it around 5-7K.
