Good luck in the blizzard of 09

Good luck fellow Coloradoan's, we will need it tomorrow.

8-16" of snow coming = car not going anywhere far. Im kinda screwed cause I will have to go into work but might get to come home early if the roads and snow are piling up. Hopefully the warmth we have had will make it not stick to the roads much and all we get is a mushy slush.

Anyhow, I am kinda excited to see how the blizzaks will handle the snow, just not this damn much at once.

If it comes in the quantities they are saying, it won't be a slushy mess - it will be ice under lots of snow.

I'm prepared, my Wrangler is gassed up and ready to go.

Hopefully that is being reconsidered? Watch out for Monument Hill - that can be a real bear and in an E92 non-xi with snows, a potentially no-go challenge (ask me how I know!).

Sounds like it is supposed to be even worse south of Denver. You'll get there ok, maybe consider getting a hotel room in CS for tonite?

Good luck, I would not want to be driving my 335i that direction today.

I agree. My E92 does not want to see snow. Luckly, I'm only 3 miles from work and have a Sierra as my winter car. We (WEstminster, Broomfield, Boulder area) got pounded this morning and it was only wet down south. Good luck and I hope you guys driving your bimmers make it home safe tonight.

Round 1 to me! Got the car out but ended up coming back though, saw too many idiots that cant drive. The car in about 1-2" of snow was amazing though with the blizzaks.

I ended up getting my dads 76 F-150, takes about 3 feet of snow to get it stuck without chains, but they sent us home 3 hours after I got to work.

I definitely recommend a dedicated set of snows for anyone driving a RWD car. I use my old E34 (1994 530i) as my winter/daily driver, and have non-studded Dunlap Wintersport M3's on there, and I swear the car could get me though anything.

Plus the 50/50 balance of the BMWs mean even if you do start to slip, its very predictable and can be reigned in very easily. And best of all, controlled drifting around corners is more fun than anyone should be allowed to have on public roads.

I had no problem this morning, but I'm a bit north of Boulder. CDOT won't plow the highways if all the in-city streets are too clogged to move, doesn't do any good.

Agree totally. I took the car into work this morning and it was much better then expected. I have blizzak LM-25's on the style 185 rims. Car handled very predictable. In my old 99 Maxima, 5spd, I used to e-brake around all the time to slide and drift, its actually easier I find to get around in the snow doing this. In the RWD 335i...no need for e-brake!! LOL. Its great fun, but controlled.

I just wish the other idiots on the road could figure out how to drive.

As for CDOT...yea, they suck ass. PLOW DURING and AFTER the storm. The streets here in my town are fine because our plows were out during the storm, and for a long time after. And MAG CHLORIDE PLEASE!!

I dunno about you guys but Id rather have some salt to wash off then get rock chips from the damn gravel!! Clear bra and all, still some parts get hit.

I was quite disappointed in this storm and this whole snow season in fact. I didn't put my snows on my 335i until January and still have yet to drive in anything other than cold. Taking them off next week.

Wasted a good set of snow tires this winter on the family Pathfinder driving up skiing, never really needed them. Finally took them off last week and put back on the summer A/Ts for our Spring Break road trip to South Dakota.

I did use my Jeep during the storm on Thursday to get my kids from school, but I could have just as easily driven the 335i. The worst of it was around 12 noon where the snow had drifted in my housing area to 18" in some spots, including my driveway, but it wasn't anything I couldn't have gotten through.

Oh yeah, and where I live, they did an excellent job of road clearing, which further detracted from the need for muscle 4WD.
