Talking Halo to Jaylo (Halogen to Xenon Conversion) Done

Hi Guys I got fed up of the halogens and finally had my conversion finished. I had to buy parts from both Uk and germany and buy them a month at a time as I didnt have the money to burn in one lump so patience was vertue . Here's what I did and the prices I paid:

Bought the 1 of the Xenon headlights from Ebay uk for £70 without ballasts or bulbs. 2nd Headlight bought from Germany for about £105 again without ballasts or bulbs. Bought both the ballasts from Germany for about £50 each so £100. Bought my Xenon Bulbs 6500k version from Imran at Evolve for £59.99 as they give a great match to the white angel eye rings.

Next stage was for error removal, as I am useless with electronics I found out that a forum member ******* in the states does a special harness which makes these error free and I can assure you they are totally error free. From the states I also had my eyes set on LUX 5.0 Angel Eyes, as I wanted the xenon lights to be matched with the Angel eyes, looks better than the amber ones in my opinion. I sent the headlight to him at Florida US and got him to install both the lux 5 angel eyes and the error removal harness for a total of $400 dollars (Currency at the time was about 2$ for £1 so I done it at the right time) so that cost me £200. He did a great job and sent me back the Headlights and I fitted them myself as taking the bumper off isnt that difficult. if I opted for the normal angel eyes it would have only cost me $200 dollars but the LUX 5 is worth it trust me bright even in sunlight.

Total price for the job = £634.99 which included the £100 shipping fee I paid.

Guys here are the pics, please bear in mind it was a rainy day and I took them with a 1megapixel Nokia phone and its crap at pics.. let me know what you think..

Thanks Willhollin, trust me it was a mission and it took a few months due to financial constraints as someone keyed my car and that dented my mod budget badly .

Looks good. Let's hope your MOT tester doesn't spot the lack of headlamp washers!

Or the lack of self levelling.

Guys I had these looked at by my MOT guys and he said they were perfect and when I switch them on they self level up then down, had them on a beam analyser too so all is good, no one will be blinded..

But do they self level when driving along. I have been blinded on country roads when cars with retrofit xenons come over a slight incline and wipe oiut your vision for the next few secs.
I have heard that the MOT will be changed to include the correct marking, fitment of headlamp washers and self levelling checks by the end of 2010.

that's different - that's just the diagnostics on both halogen and xenon cars which drives the motors end to end to exercise them every five switch ons. The levelling in your car is still controlled by the thumbwheel next to the light switch.

On factory-fit xenons you do not get this switch as the beam level is controlled electronically and continuously by the LKM. There is a ride-height sensor on both the front and rear offside suspension arms and the adjustment is dynamic.
