As you should be.

My rule of thumb for NA chip gains - take mfr's claim, divide by 2, then subtract 10. Now it sounds believable.

so this chip is like $675 for 22hp...so your theory is take 22/2 = 11 then 11-10 = 1...LoL $675 for 1hp gain? doubt it..should get at least 8-10 im guessing

It will be nice to upgrade and get the chip but only if the numbers are real and tested.

With the electronic Valve control, you are able to make adjustments as if you actually upgraded the cams, by upgrading the cams you changing the valve displacement, this is the same effect with the ECU upgrade however this is done without losing your idle.

Send me this "Software" And ill dyno test it myself. If it gets anything CLOSE to 22HP gains on a NA motor. I will personally Fly to California and Hand you $5,000.00 cash.

European tuners have been working on software for more than a year. Still they are unable to produce any software for the US 330 or 325. Dinan, Alpina, Hamann... Give me a fucking break... 22HP on NA... Yea I tuned my MINI, with software on a F/I car with a pulley reduction i got 7 WHEEL HORSEPOWER ok. You are messing with the valve timing on this car? Controling the valves? With this "Software" you are changing displacement? Sorry I dont mean to rain on your parade. But 22HP this is BS.

Ill sell you a Type R sticker. $720.00, you want it?

Ohh and not to mention. reliability....

anything that alters the way your engine works as it rolls off the assembly line can void your warranty. Yes the dealer and BMW have to prove that such a mod caused this but you would be fighting an uphill battle if say your motor gave up the ghost

no offense man, but James is a credible person and doubt he would make up stuff like that, especially if he wasn't the one who posted the thread, he chimed in afterwards...

James as for the headers....dammit get rid of em!!! my car should be gone within the next two weeks...still not sure of what car to get!?

Please just wait and see the Dyno. We never know what's gonna happen. It could gain 22hp or could gain 0hp...just wait and see. I appreciate the effort to remap the ECU...

Umm...hate to nitpick but what is valve displacement? I am very familiar with duration and lift and have degreed a few cams on my old small blocks but I've never heard of displacement. Do you mean duration?

VANOS can change the degreeing/timing of the cam and Valvetronic can change the lift but I don't think either can change the duration since it relies on the physical cam profile.

However Valvetronic is new and who knows what can be done with increased lift and more agressive timing.

I hope you can get 22 HP from a normally aspirated engine. I am skeptical but wish you luck.

What will be the warranty should the dealer decide to reflash the ECU?? Will you reflash it? What would be the cost for a reflash?

How is it possible to know the gains are "Gains = 22hp 15tq" if the car is getting dynoed next week?

Really, I honestly hope this is a decent, true, real product, but ya gotta question... :dunno: I'm first in line if it does what is claimed, but I'm very skeptical.

I hope this works, If it does what you say it will... I will still not be the first to do this mod. I would wait untill a couple of you guys have this chip in your cars for at least a few months with no significant problems.

Hold on there a second guys

I know all of you are very loyal to BMW and believe me, if I could afford one I'd be driving one. However, I think you should take a look at what's possible on an engine with even smaller dispalcement. Granted I don't know how much time an effort was spent on developing the ECU upgrade for the BMW, and exactly what parameters are being changed, but have a look at what's achievable on Honda K-series motors.
