Glad you had a great time out there I told you it was a blast! And I'm jealous you got in so many runs! I only got in seven yesterday Next thing you know you'll be getting new tires, springs, etc!

Make sure next time to shift into second ... you should be able to hit second right in the beginning during the slalom. Staying in first probably will bump you up on the limiter I'm not sure if we ran the same course or not ... I think my best time was 43.xx? I'm sure results will be posted soon so I can see.

BTW, you did turn of traction control didn't you?

I took a few random pics...

Beginning of the day, testing the course. Capital Driving Club is also part of the Triumph club.

Euros representing. Yes, one GTI and one Merc, and me. Everyone else was imports and domestics

One of the fastest Hondas (and cars) I've ever seen. Turbo Civic that hung with the Z06 all day. I can't remember if he or the Z06 got the FTD.

Several STI's and WRX were present...

WTF?! 43?!?! Did you do the rest of the course in 2nd, after you shifted in the slalom? I was wondering why I couldn't get lower than a 47.

Sam, Shim ... great pics. Looks like an awesome time!

I'm sold. Please let me know the next time you will be going

I presume at the very basic a certified helmet is required. What are the other requirements...

How did your tires hold up after 7-10 runs?

I have video of my 49.46 run, I ran EXACTLY 49.46 twice, at the end of the first heat and the start of the second. The fastest today was an Evo who consistently ran 40.xx...well after the guy in the Austin Healey who ran like a freaking 36 or 38 in the beginning!

lol, my tires. I had my traction control off completely, and I was flooring it out of every corner.

cool...I think my hard all season tires should hold out alright...

Alternatively, I could cash in some of my miles on a rental car and beat the living sh*t out of it at the next auto-x Let me research up what is a decent rental car to take out there

Yeah, don't quote me since I didn't take the timeslips with me -- but if my memory isn't fading in my old age, I think the second runs I ran around 43.xx. I know the first heat I went off course once, and then I ran something like a 47.xx and 45.xx. Had to get a navigator to go with me

As for the shift, yes I ran in 2nd. Like I mentioned, you should probably bang into second during the slalom. I think our BMW's are probably low 40 sec cars on that course.

Believe the next one is the 5th in Manassas - but I'll be out on the Chespeake charter fishing that day with buddies of mine.

I'll probably end up going to the one in September that is gonna be at the same lot. The one in Bowie MD is a haul to get out to for me... but if a bunch of folks go, I'll probably be game

As for what you need, having your own SNELL rated helmet would be good, although I think they have loaners. Also, it's $35 for non members. And remember all the basic things, like chair, snacks, sunblock, hat, etc. Not much shade in a parking lot, and you're waiting around a lot under the sun.

They had like 15 helmets there, plenty enough. I'm kind of sad that you beat me by like four seconds. We'll go head to head next time we're at the same one.

There's one this Saturday, like 15 minutes away from my house.

I should be studying for my final, but screw it. I need to do this. I NEED IT.

I just finished watching your 49 second run ... umm, slow!

It was the same course I ran, with the figure 8 and the middle gate.

You could probably gain a few seconds just by shifting into second and staying there after the slalom. My guess is that when you were driving, you didn't feel like you were really pushing the car, right? Did you ever push the rear end out in any of your runs or lose control for a bit? Did the ABS kick in when you braked?

You should push your car past the limit once or twice to get a feel for what it's like ... it'll give you a better idea of how close you can push the car next time. Plus, it's always fun once and while to do a short sideways drift lol

On my fastest run, I pushed it, but went totally sideways. It was a 47.48. Yeah, second would have helped. You cheated because you did that CCA thing.

Actually, now that I think about it, I could have pushed it a way lot more. Hell, I'm not going to even use the brakes next time.

Apparently, they're not!

You should have seen my second run, I missed the first turn and got totally lost. It was a humbling moment.

They have like 15 loaner helmets, so no one has to worry about buying one. You should come to the one this Saturday with me. It's at Osbourn Park Highschool in Manasses.
