Fuel pump about to fail and no warranty!

Does anyone have connections where I can go and get my fuel pump replaced (2nd one!)? 52k miles and car has been flagged , so I'm out of luck on the 2 year parts warranty also.

Order it from Tischer - take it to an independant BMW shop. You can use the link below to find a good independant BMW shop or check out your local BMW forums.

http://www.bimrs.org/MapPage.html

Also - you might have a case on getting it replaced under warranty, even if your car has been flagged. BMW knows these are big piles of shit which is why they extended the warranty on them.

How and why did your car get flagged?

Support your local business, why go out of State and save a few bucks. Have it all done at your local independant shop. You want them to be around when you need their help again, right?

Well I guess it just depends ... I didn't support my local business because they tried charging me over 1000 dollars more for *just* parts than Tischer would.

I had my pump replaced here. Adon has done all the work on my 335. Give him a call.

To the OP: Best to get the parts and install from the same shop, as shops generally will warranty the part and labor for a period of time, where as if you buy a part online then install elsewhere and the pump fails (highly likely) you are on your own.

Good Luck and let us know what the cost is.

I wonder how hard it is to replace one of these yourself...

Also, what is the sign of a dying 335i fuel pump? Do you get a check engine light right away as a warning?

Warning signs of it on its way out are longer crank time before engine start, uneven power, and eventually a malfunction indicator light that reads P3090 on a code scanner referencing the fuel pump.

I came across a bulletin (not sure where but I believe its BMWNA) that states BMW is now increasing warranty till 100,000 miles on all HPFP???

I am searching for it but I suggest everyone do the same....

The op lost his original warranty for some reason, which you would also think applies to any extended manufacturer warranties.

We always keep a fuel pump in stock for our customers who choose not to go to the dealer for warranty work. Especially when involving R&R DP's, exhaust, intake, DV kits, etc. before the dealer visit.

For now , it's the long starts only . No loss of power or any warning lights yet and the long starts only happen when the engines cold.

This makes me wonder -- are fuel pumps failures more common on juiced cars? If not, kinda shi**y that you aren't covered for that, considering that the HPFP failure is such a widespread defect. I haven't been flagged, but I'm just sayin', that's shi**y.
