Captured oil in OCC

I know there are a few other pics out there of this, but since OCC discussion has started to come up again I'd thought I'd post pics.

This was after 3600mi

It just really reinforces the need for an OCC. Where do you want that oil? Caking in your engine or sitting in the your charge pipes or maybe in the bottom of the intercooler.... or in a $100 catch can.

I don't. I was going to put some in there last night, but I didn't have any handy.

I checked both lines going into the can for any oil. Obviously, the line in was caked of oil, but the line out was really clean and dry. Steel wool will give me peace of mind though and I do plan on adding some.

An original Riss Racing OCC. No baffle or wool.

LOL. I work in Technology, but our CU got a Harley Davidson repo that needed a little bit of work. Heineken helped me sooth the pain for working on the '83 shovel head. I'm used to the crotch rocket world.

Back on topic....

It really does... This is a very important mod, if you plan on keeping/owning your car for a long time.

I'm a little disappointed in the original RR OCC. This may be true on their new one also, but their gaskets are worthless. The top nipples used to leak all over the place making a mess. After some teflon tape and swapping out the useless donut gaskets I was able to cure my leak. I haven't done this to the drain plug yet, but plan too. I might look at another alternative for a can if I continue to have problems.

No, The the vacuum hose nipples up top. You can unscrew these and you'll see the little rubber donut gaskets. The same is for the drain plug. I applied the teflon tape to the threads to help prevent leaking and also replaced the donut gaskets with flat washer type gaskets.

Yep, I just caught a bit of oil also.
Humtek, check the attachments in the back fo the engine though.
Mine was leaking so most of the oil was on the undertray (under the engine) and not in the can.
I added clamps to every part and then found that it was leaking from the white connectors.
I used high temp silicone and epoxy after cleaning everything up.

Why is it leaking everywhere? Do you have the older version OCC?

I have never seen any leaking from mine.... I got it mid-August 2008 so I don't know which "version" it is.

Thanks for the tip. I haven't had a chance to check the lines, but I will do so soon.

It was first leaking from the CC. Then Riss replaced it with no problems.
Then, I noticed that it was leaking at the rear (rubber hoses).
So, I added clamps to all of the rubber ends to make it air tight.
Then, I noticed that it was leaking from the white connectors.
It may not look like it, but there are 2 white connectors per line (making 4 total). So, I had to take everything off, clean everything, and then seal it all.
Then, when I was putting the hoses back together, I saw that the new model CC was leaking again.

I just hope that others look as well because I think that when people but back their engine cover after the inital install, they forget about it since the lines are out of view.
It would be interesting to see if the CC that I got was jinxed or if others are having the same issues.

Did you take the engine cover off and look at the hoses in the back of your engine or are you assuming it's not leaking because you just can't see it?

Everyone should look. I checked mine this afternoon and sure enough the white pieces are leaking ever so slightly on the engine side. Not so much on the intake side (duh). Besides clamps (a total of 8? 4 per hose), what else did you use to seal the lines?

After checking my can again, it's still leaking. This time from the elbows that are threaded into the can. I sent a PM in hopes for a replacement, if not I may have to look at another can, but I'll be keeping the hose kit.
