Effectiive July 1, 2006 $25 County Sticker NO MORE!

effective July 1, 2006
All Fairfax County residents are no longer required to buy and display the $25 County Sticker on your windshield.(Alexandria City doesnt apply)

WHOOPIEEEEEEEEEEEE! thats $25 more in you pocket book this year.

HOWEVER
You still obligated to pay the annual Car Property Taxes, and thats 4.57 per $100 of the NADA Trade-In price of the car.
to compute: (the 1st 20k * 4.57%)*33.30% + remaining value *4,.57% =PTax

anyway! enjoy the $25 savings this year and every year!!!!

Start Ripping Those PTax-Stickers off your Windshield!

call 703-222-8234 Va Tax Dept if youre unsure of your county jurisdication.

I'm under Alexandria

edit: Did I calculate that right...I should expect a car prop tax bill of $800 plus bucks I knew there was a reason I kept my last car FL registered

My God, I never noticed the property tax before, but obviously this year it will be painful. Like they don't get enough from me on the property tax of my home.

I don't get it, if they are going to rape us with exorbitant prop tax, couldn't they give us a break with the sales tax on the cars. Its not like we get plenty for that tax. We get stupid speed limits, overzealous cops etc etc

Great, I live in Vienna, VA...

question:

If I just purchased my car where do I get a safety inspection? That is different from emissions inspection, right?

Safety and emission can be done at your local gas station. I believe they are $15/28 respectively. Emission normally is required during car registration renewal, unlike the safety is yearly as your window sticker says. Both separate but most get it done the same time.

I wish Loudoun would do away with the sticker.

I see no purpose whatsoever to have the sticker other than for counties to generate more funds...

Honestly I don't know why anyone lives in VA. The elected goobers there need to be replaced. They have really got the citizens over the barrel when it comes to taxes and fees.

This old thread is timely. So... everyone else get their property tax bills? The bill for my 330i was $960+ for the year. That's just reeeeeeeedickaless. One reason to consider leasing next time.

Nah not yet. That's one piece of mail I'd rather not get.
