Shadow line vinyl trim done! w/pics

I just completed the matte black vinyl trim wrap today. It took a painful 4 hrs. I wish I had this done in time for 4ngiefest. Here are some pics.

All you need is an exacto knife, a lot of time, and great patience. I recommend you clean the trim before you begin. I used material from bmwshadowline.com. A 3"x30' roll is enough. I had ~5 inches remaining. Take your time. The rear curvature of the trim is fairly difficult. You will have to run your finger carefully and try to stretch the trim around the curvature. Becareful not to cut into the rubber molding beneath the trim.

Yeah, I did this myself. I am not a pro. I cf wrapped my dash and felt this would be a good challenge. Definately not for the faint of heart. www.bmwshadowline.com.

Maybe a good idea. This is definately not easy.

came out phenominal!!
im debating doing this... how hard was it to bend around the back window? I know it takes time and patience, just curious on the difficulty level back there. The straight parts seem fairly easy.
What did you use to press it down?

Wrapping around the curve is very difficult. Mini air bubbles form way too easily and take a lot of time to get out. Breaking it up into straight sections rather than using one long piece is better. Straight parts are easy. I just used my fingers for pressing it down.

How did you do the rear curved part? Is the vinyl stretchable?

The vinyl can be stretched a small amount. I had to break up the curved part into a few sections. I ended up using a slanted piece to cover the curve area instead of stretching it around the curve, as that would create a lot of air bubbles during stretching and be a pain.

I have this stuff and i easily did the door part and once i got to the parts that curve i couldn't do it. The vinyl didn't stretch enough for me to keep it in once piece. I could do it but it would have to be in sections and i thought it would look really ghetto if you could see where i had cut the vinyl to make it work and see it over lapping in some areas. Sounds like this is what you did? Do you mind taking close up pictures to where you had to break it up? I want to see how it looks. Thanks! Looks good.

I also see you didnt remove the side mirrors. Can you take a shot of underneath the mirrors for the chrome there? I thought u had to remove the side mirrors to get to the chrome under there.
