DIY: Coolingmist 2.3G tank mount upgrade

This is what you'll end up with.






Hardware you'll need for the tank 'holder'/Frame:

2x: 1/4"-20 x 1/4" Bolts (for nuts on back of tank)
2x: 1/4" Lock washers

2x: 1" x 36" x 1/16" thick: Angle Bar - $5.40 each


1x: 1" x 36" x 1/16" thick: Flat Bar - $7.00 each (coulnd't find 1/16" thick)


Hardware you'll need for the brackets/mounting:

2x: 3x3in BRACKETS - $9.98 4 pack

4x: U Type Speed Nuts - $.92 2 pack

4x: 1/8" or 1/4" length bolts that match Speed Nuts.


Tools You'll Need:

Hacksaw, Dremel, cut-off wheel for metal, etc. (a Tool to cut Aluminum & Stainless Steal.).
Something to sand rough metal edges smooth.
Rivet Gun & Rivets.
Drill & bits to match Rivet & Bolt sizes.
Racket & sockets to match selected bolts.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. The measuring & cutting:
To measure I simply put the tank into an angled aluminum piece and used a pencil to mark the length.
You'll need 5 angled pieces. 1x: Front, 2x: bottom, 2x: sides
And 1x: Flat piece for the tank to bolt to.

Cut the pieces to length & sand any rough edges smooth.

2. Drilling & Applying Rivets:
Next drill holes for the rivets. You'll be connecting at 6 spots. Shown in Photo.



3. Measuring for tank bolt locations:
Put the tank in the frame. Mark where you'll need to drill the flat aluminum piece to line up with the nuts in the tank.
Drill the holes.





4. Measuring for L bracket mounting points:
With the tank in the frame, hold it in the trunk above the Amp. Then hold the L brackets on each side. Mark the L brackets and the bottom part of the aluminum frame for where the bolts would go.
Drill the holes!
Cut the L brackets to length & sand down rough edges.






Now you can secure the tank to the frame & the L brackets in the car!



So much more room than the way it comes from Coolingmist!




I'm sure there could be a few solutions to help reduce the chances of Methanol dripping onto the AMP should you have a leak at the fitting. I'll leave that part to you.

Very nicely done! I am starting to consider adding a meth system to go with my JB4 and this looks like a good way to do the reservoir to minimize the space it occupies.

Great idea!!!!! I haven't decided yet how to make a more permanent but easy to remove if needed way of installing my tank...... Until now

Looks great I'll be doing this for sure.
I might add a pan underneath to detect leaks
And like the idea of your vent to atmosphere instead of trunk/car..... I'm pretty sure meth fumes is the reason I'm getting headliner fixed as we speak
