Good read. Personally, I'm thinking the 328 might be the way to go. At 230hp, it should still have some zip, and will save mucho dinero over the 335i.

Nice. I liked the Winding Road comparison of the S4 and 330i; this is a little gushy and short on detail, but nice photos and text.

I like the line on the turbo aspect of the car..

"...It's remarkable because of it's ability to blend in with other engine components and become one piece of a whole. It does not define the 335i- it just contributes to it's creation..."

Nice

The 328 also weighs a lot less (more than 200 lbs, in fact) and has better weight distribution.

I'm beginning to think that the 328 will be more fun to autocross than the 335. It'll be slightly more nimble and you won't have to deal with the irritating feeling of having your engine unload most of its power on the inside tire quite as much.

Thanks for the article. Nice blue. Although I'm waiting for the cabrio, I'm probably gonna have to test drive the coupe.

Perhaps they don't realize that the 3 coupe always has a sport suspension, different from the sedan, and that there's still a sport package available with an even stiffer suspension, in addition to the 18 inch wheels.

Interesting article and good technical details.

Here's what I got out of it:

I was a bit surprised at the weight of the E92 335i too. It weighs at 3571 lbs compared to the existing E90 330i ZSP sedan's 3450 lbs. I'm surprised because the sedan has 4-doors vs the coupe's 2-doors, and the new model sports a few plastic vs metal panels. Weight distribution is not as 50/50 as it is with our E90s. It's more like 51.2/48.8 percent front/rear.

This time, Marc Michael Markefka was the exterior designer, not Joji Nagashima. I wonder how Joji feels about the design.

The article confirms what we already know about BMW's usage of two small turbochargers, not arranged sequentially, but in parallel, each to handle 3-cylinders. Their small size probably minimizes turbo lag, and the boost though likely smaller than typical turbochargers, would come on more quickly. Hence, the de-emphasizing of the "turbo" as we have come to expect.

Still, it surprises me that a company like BMW still makes non-equal length exhaust runners with their exhaust manifolds (i.e., surprised they don't make equal length headers stock).

Sounds like another win for our favorite car company. I am glad that the E92 looks good and drives well. E9x FTW!

They tested Euro versions, which can be equipped without the sports suspension.
