Replacing HiFi speakers for Logic 7

I used to own an E90 330i with S677A (HiFi Professional DSP - Logic 7) and I was very happy with the sound. it was clear and powerful. Then I bought an E92 335i but it has just the S676A (HiFI system) which is one step lower but it totally sucks. I don't know how to describe the sound because I'm not a native speaker but it would probably be "unclear". I played a lot with the equalizer, added some bass and treble but it still doesn't sound very good. The clarity has slightly improved but the dynamic range got even worse.

Now I've been offered a set of Logic 7 speakers (7 speakers, 2 tweeters, 2 subwoofers) BUT without amplifier. Does it make sense to replace just the speakers and subwoofers and will there be any improvement? Or is it absolutely useless and do I need the amplifier as well?

The whole Logic 7 "retrofit" would cost me probably $2000 or so and it would take several days and A LOT of work to do it and I don't think I'd find anybody who'd have enough experiences to do it for me (a friend of mine did it, he's a BMW audio expert and he said it's a lot of work and he doesn't want to do it again). Just the speakers and subwoofers are currently for sale for about $350 and it shouldn't be that difficult to replace all of them. But will it improve anything at all? Any thoughts?

You need an amp, the logic 7 mids are 2 ohm and hifi are 4 ohm. Also the underseats for hifi are 2 ohm and for logic 7 they are 4 ohm. The xd600/6 and technics harness are a direct replacement for the hifi amp.

i replaced my hifi speakers with logic 7.......the biggest difference is adding the tweaters.
you wont have cutouts in the rear doors for the rear speakers FYI, or wiring for the front center chanel.
just swap front door speakers, and rear shelf speakers, and add the tweeters to those locations as well

Go with an aftermarket amp and speakers

Go with an aftermarket amp and speakers
The process is well documented and there are many examples
and its not that hard to do as a DIY for a Hi Fi system.

The standard fix is a Jl 600/6 , Technic Harness and after market Front and
Under seat Speaker upgrades this will give something that is better
than L7 in many peoples opinions.

You almost never here of a L7 replacement here and for the price you can have something many times better.

The Hi Fi amp is very weak compared to a Jl 600/6 or almost
any aftermarket amp that's why its better to get aftermarket speakers.

If you want a one stop proven solution MusicarNW can sell you
a kit with everything you need.

What if you get the JL xd600/6 amp and replace just the front doors and front tweeters with Logic 7? Would that work?

It would be better for sure.

It would be better for sure.
But if you want some really significant improvement do aftermarket on the
floors and front doors.

Description of the Hi Fi system .
Kind of sounds Ok if you don't turn it up. Weak Mid range
When you do turn it up the tweeters are harsh the midrange are what bass there is distorts and is muddy.

which aftermarkets are available now?

the DLS speakers people mention using is discontinued. the focal ifbmw-s seems perfect but its pricey at $500-600. other speakers seem like they require heavy modification to install. Which in door speakers can be had for $100-200? I see used L7s on ebay for less than that. Or is there a bracket that will make any old 4" midrange work?

Most of the door speakers need and adapter plate.

Yes that would work. Logic 7 speakers are actually not too bad. There are better speakers out there, but as you said they are quite a bit more expensive.

OK I may just do that. Is the connector the same?

And to answer the previous person, yes I looked over those other speakers. most seem hard to find or expensive.
