Alright ladies, I need a nice scenic route from Chicago. I'm willing to go around 2 hours away. This is purely a trip for the ride. It's summer time and I've been waiting to go on a extended cruise just to enjoy surroundings. Usually when I drive for that long it's through cornfields. Also looking for a good place to eat/walk around for a bit when we get there. Prob. Be taking the ole ball and chain with me to make a day of it. The road doesn't have to be filled with twisties or anything (altho I will award extra points) just something nice to look at. I've taken a trip up to new buffalo and it was a cool drive seeing lake Michigan to my left so I'm a little bias but left me know what u guys think.

Yes...best on sportbikes but alas gave that up years ago. Just did it on a borrowed Goldwing last weekend. They are fun in cars too....just stay in your lane, lots of bikers on these routes.

I know you wanna go now but if you wait till Oct 1st, take a day trip up to Saugatuck Michigan.

Its like 3-4 hr drive but its GORGEOUS in fall right when the leaves are changing colors plus the town is really cool, lots of cool shops and whatnot. Also a great place to stay at a B&B for a weekend.

I know it's a little more of a drive, but I like to drive south to Indianapolis, and then southwest just a little bit to the Brown County area. There are lots of great curvy roads down there, as southern Indiana is very hilly. Lots of bikes down there too. You could also head to French Lick, Indiana. It's in southwest Indiana too, and there are several resorts there that have been around since the roaring 20's. There's some good golfing down there too if that interests you.

You didn't say IL, but I recommend Galena.

Get to Rockford as fast as you can via 90 or 20 and past Rockford, get off the main road and go up to Nora/Warren where you can pick up the Stagecoach Trail and take that into Galena. Then when you leave Galena head south on BlackJack Road and pickup 84 south along the Mississippi to Savanna and then head east from there to home. It ends up being an all day adventure but you can do some people watching and Lunch in Galena in between driving (and more importantly, it make the wife happy!)

My wife and I did this last fall to enjoy the leaves. We caught the end of the season, but had a blast. There are some special moments on Stagecoach trail. Not a ton of great curves, but some nice rollercoaster hills and curves.
