New Dealer SA said my Cigarette lighter not covered under warranty? - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

So I brought my car in to the dealer today for a list of things that needed to be fixed. The receptionist gave me a new SA that didnt seem too happy to help me. I thought nothing of it but the more time I spent talking to him about my cars problems, the more I didnt like him. He was abrupt, and seemed to be irritated by something. So as I tell him about the cigarette lighter, he abruptly cuts me off and tells me that the cigarette lighter isnt covered under warranty??? Now I feel like he's bullshiting me and wanted to know what you guys think?

It's part of the electrical system of the car. It is covered under your warranty. 4 yrs or 50,000 miles

Sounds like he was just in a pissed off mood for whatever reason. Probably a good idea to try another SA - that should absolutely be covered.

I had my lighter fixed 3 times under warranty on my old X3. They even covered it when they figured out that I caused it to get damaged by using a bad phone charger. Your new SA is either not very informed on what's covered, or just a jerk.

The cigarette lighter fuse being blown is not covered under warranty, as in BMW does not reimburse us for the fuse or the labor to put it in. Why? It usually blown due to the customers phone charger. But most of us realize that the thousands of dollars that we will see from your car in the future is worth eating the cost of a $.50 fuse. Most dealers will just take care of it without question.
