So mine is a 7/07 prod running original non-laggy non-nanny software and I want to make sure I can return it to exactly that version. If they "read" it and determine they dont have a tune for it, can I assume they also copy the original while creating a tune for it? If I want to go back to stock someday, I dont want a newer version for the reasons mentioned above.
Tony is not going to update your car with the new BMW software. What comes off your car is what goes back on your car if you want to go back to stock. They save all the files they read off for people in case they want/need to go back to stock at some point in the future.

I was surprised that the size of my ECU code for my car was only ninety something kilobytes. Mine was handled the same way. It was mailed off to some dude in Cali. He e-mailed it back about an hour later, and it was put onto my car.

Quick turn around. I know on mine when we were there it was on a Friday at about 4:00pm and he said that he could send it out and fedex their flasher down to me and I would have it on Tuesday the following week. Not sure what their average turn around is if they have to send it out to Cali.

How is yours BTW Kyle?

I will be finding out either tonight or tomorrow. I got my intercooler installed, so it was going to be adjusted for that and tuned on the dyno.

i threw 4 codes. 2 of worthwhile to mention.

2d25 - tuning manipulation code
and the dredded hpfp code.
the other two were from me being a dumbass, low windshield wiper fluid and gas door open!

i want to make it clear that the hpfp was not due to the flash. I was flashed back to stock monday and the code popped up wednesday.

I do not believe they are related

Hmmm, it hasn't come back "yet"... Do you have any idea what software you have? I'm curious why people are tripping the 2D codes, I had a JB+ at 100% which is allowing more boost than the LET stage one and I never had a code, but I've also never been updated since my 11/07 build. I'm gonna have to meet up with Mo (Blackhawk) soon to get my car scanned, I'll let you know what I have if anything...

i have the newer software, their 135i doesn't have this code and its got a ton more stuff than i do.

you could also just go to LET as they have a GT1 (dealership code reader)

Not sure what the big deal about the tuner code is....

I'm sure they'll clear it for you if you flash back to stock for service, and I wouldn't even consider a tune or PB without a BT, now that it's available for so little. Yeah, it sucks that it isn't totally undetectable like what was claimed, but with the BT at $280 or whatever, why not just fit it into your budget anyway? It's a pretty cool gadget, easy to use, costs pocket change, and works wonders....

I totally agree that the BT is a must have, for now I live about two blocks from Blackhawk (Mo) who has the enthusiast version and is really cool about me bumming a scan here and there. I'm not worried about being able to find a scan, and I know the code isn't the end of the world, just a little salty about having to de-flash every time I go in for service now, not just warranty work.

And honestly, I may not ever have a code so to be honest I just stop my bitching until I know for sure! End rant!

yeah he's right...

if you have any mechanical issues they'll do it it (usually automatically). If you're going in to replace your wipers, no they're not going to bother. I would only tell you if they need to drive it, then I'd rather have it flashed to stock 1st... thats really the only way they can tell youre running a tune. If you want, buy a flashing tool and tony will put your stock map and tune map on it and then you can do it all yourself. They're only like $500 bucks or so.

Only $500? Really? I thought these things didn't exist under a couple grand. And, assuming the flash evolves over time, you could potentially just go back to LET and update the maps on your tool, correct?

Why would they sell the tool and put a tune on it when you can take that tune and flash your friends? I assume they can lock it down somehow to just your car, but everything is hackable.
