2011 335i Sedan 57k Miles for $21k -- Worth it?

2011 BMW 335i, N55, black on black, 57k miles, with premium package and sport package.

The price dealer gave me was about $21k outdoor (10% tax&fees included).

Clean title, good maintenance record, no accident (from carfax), 2 owners, first was a lease on September 2010.

Drives good

Engine jerks a little bit while idling. Larger than normal gaps on right side between front bumper and body, and on left side between rear bumper and body.

Some scratches, but it's normal for a used car. Also looked like they have cleaned the engine bay.

Rear turn signal malfunctioned during test drive, but they replaced the (lightbulb?) in 2 mins and it lighted back again (I thought it's LED and supposed to cost $100+??).

They also offered after market warranty, about $3.6k for 8 years additional bumper to bumper coverage.

Overall, is the car worth the price? What are you guy's opinions? How expensive is the maintenance cost per year? Advices on getting the aftermarket warranty?

Thanks!

What do you mean the engine jerks a bit when idling?

That's a good price if a good aftermarket warranty is included and the car was not in an accident.

Look at the warranty closely for what it covers and what you are expected to pay out of pocket. They usually cover major engine failure, but not always smaller things that are expensive on the e90 like headlights and tail lights.

I paid $27K for my 2011 in 2014 with 44K miles and it was CPO.

On the negative side - take a really hard look at that body damage. Makes me think a accident occurred and the repair work was shoddy. If so, pass on the car. Find another. Run a carfax.

They didn't replace that taillight in 2 minutes, they just messed with the connection. Another possible warning sign of crash repair.

If I were in the market, I would have a better feel for the price, but it strikes me as high.

The aftermarket warranty is going to cover the car to 2024? The issue I have with that is if the co. is gone, so is the warranty. A BMW warranty could have taken it to late 2018 at best, 100k, in the old days, and would cost less than $3,600. Given that's pure profit, I would say lower the selling price, and throw in that warranty for $1,200 (give them something for it). my .02.

Things not working on a test drive, that's not good. That imho indicates the level of car a place has with respect to what's on their lot--they didn't even check it prior to trying to sell it.

Engine vibrates a little when idling, but can't feel it when driving. Is it normal for a used car?

$21K doesn't include warranty. The warranty is extra $3.6k but it covers everything (include the electrics and lights).
However my ideal price is $20k, but seems they are not doing it......

Yes the $3.6k warranty is good until 2024 and is transferable (does it sound too good to be true?). Also $100 deductible each claim.

The dealer actually took good care of the car -- they warmed up the engine for about half minute before pull the car out. The light was good initially but during the test drive it failed.

I'm not seeing signs of an accident but maybe a rub on bumper I wouldn't worry about. The jerk or hiccup as I call it at idle is normal and is caused by direct injection, if it is just doing it randomly and not often I wouldn't worry much of it.

The bumpers must have been replaced...but maybe the accident/rub isn't really serious.......at lease they are not shown on carfax.

Rear bumper doesnt line up. Look at the exhaust, offset.
Right front fender is completely out of position. See the hood\fender lineup. Right rear quarter looks repainted. Inconsistent orange peel.

This car needs too much work for 21k. It may drive ok. But to me, looks like kaka poo poo

Yeah, it's probably just carbon build up as a result of direct injection.

Mine wasn't nearly as bad but there was a little rough idle/hesitation when accelerating. After I got it decarbed/walnut blasted it is super smooth now.

I bought it with about 47k miles. Got it done at 51k miles. Noticeable difference.

price seems too high, if it was in an accident it wasn't bad cause panel gaps all seem pretty good exept for as mentioned above.

From the panels and gaps I'm assuming they won't affect driving? These accidents (if happened) are not showed on carfax, so is carfax trustable? (or can someone change data on carfax?)

If you can get the warranty and all taxes for 20k sure why not but if not try to get them to lower it a couple thousand or so.

You need to look at this from the salesmans/dealerships point of view as well. 20K out the door is about 17/18+ tax, which is a decent price for this car... Adding a 3k warranty and asking for 20 OTD is basically getting the car for 14k, and it's definitely worth more then that.
