ANOTHER 09 with HPFP failing!!!

All this time reading about people's fuel pump failing, I was hoping I was one of the lucky ones that it wouldn't happen to.

Classic symptoms... long crank, engine light, reduce power, etc.

Car is 8 months old, with only 5k miles on it, weekend car. I 'm really considering trading my car in for an M now.

Should I drive it to the dealer in limp mode or have it towed?

I would press that SOS button and enjoy the service
Let me guess, you're using Shell 93 Oct, too?

I was thinking the same thing (trading in for M3) but the lost even though I haven't negotiate anything will be huge.

Bummer. I hope it works out for you man!

Personally I'd call BMW and let them decide so they can't blame anything on you.

The problem here is that the direct injection is coming in more and more new cars every day so that even the Ms should be getting it real soon.

I'm paranoid about this and I'm waiting for mine to blow. When that happens I'm going to have the fuel tested if possible and also ask to the see the dead pump or talk to the techs and ask them WTF is really happening that so many HPFPs should fail and what they think the actual failure % is.
