Third world problems - Trade M4 for LR109?

yes, yes... i'm a spoiled kid in a man's body... It sucks HA!

I've honestly always wanted an Land Rover 109... This is the 4th 109 that I've gotten so close and didn't get it...

Don't get me wrong, I love my M4. It's one of the best assault rifles around.

But everyone in my village seems to have an AK-47, so it's hard to get ammo for it.

Now I have an opportunity to trade my M4 for a 1980 Land Rover 109 - something that I've always wanted.

Imagine rolling up to a raid of one of my enemy's villages in that!

So now, i'm at a crossroads... should i get it, or should i say screw it? Sooner or later, i'll want to have one. I can't afford a newer Toyota truck with a machine gun bolted on the back as that's too much, but 1980 LR probably, yes. Comparing the 2 is not even smart as pretty much just saying gun vs. truck should tell you everything, but It's a 109 damn it.

Let's hear the comments... i'll go wrap myself in a freshly skinned goat.

Thanks.

That Land Rover looks like a POS...and the maintenance on those older ones is horrendous. I would keep the M4...you'll maintain much better 'wasta' with the tribal elders...you know 'shock and awe' so hopefully no one will challenge you.

Given that currently nobody is filling the demand for AK-47 ammunition, I suggest selling your M4 and using the money to buy AK-47 ammo and then selling that ammo to the rest of the people in your village. If you start a successful business selling guns and ammo, you'll subsequently have enough money to buy another M4 along with a Range Rover.

This is opportunity staring you in the face. Avail yourself of it.

Alternately, you may want to exchange your M4 for an AK-47. An AK-47 with bullets is a far better assault rifle than an M4 without bullets.

All the best.

Though this whole conversation is purely for entertainment, I think it's the other way around. Based on what the OP said, it seems the AK-47 ammo (7.62mm) is in abundance in his village (which is why everyone seems to have one) while the M4 ammo (5.56mm) is scarce:

Also, if in fact M4 ammo was scarce, it would stand to reason that the the demand for that rifle would be low; thus it would yield a low sales price, making it harder to get a return out of that sales money through buying/selling AK-47 ammo.

The OP has a tough choice:

get the Land Rover, a capable vehicle, but one that is already old and likely to have maintenance issues, especially in a village where the mechanics will be hard-pressed to fix it (lack of knowledge and parts)

or

keep the capable M4 in a village where ammo (5.56mm) will be scarce
