He had a awesome launch on his quickest run.
I think he has aftermarket downpipes, intecooler, meth, etc. I would also assume he has a steptronic?

Not that that matters.
Hotrod also did his 11.8 run on tune and 105 Octane only (and some weight reduction to make his 335i the same weight as 135i. No other bolt ons, no meth. If Hotrod had full bolt ons and meth too, he'd be 11.5 @ 121+ for sure. I think Hotrods traps were higher too even without all the other bolt ons or meth. Either way, high 11's is great on the N54 engine. |

11.766@119.55 in DA of 2000+ft is pretty amazing for our N54. He used map 11 which is approximately 2 0.5psi boost step increases from map 9 (standard board full race map). Minimal tuning to do that is also impressive in its own right: set to your desired map and it just delivers.

Timeslips were posted over at N54tech and yea I would say that in this hot a weather and +2000 DA that come the Fall, records are going to be continously broken till we get someone pushing low 11s with Meth.

Traction on the street can be a pretty poor 2.0 sec 60' with them, compared to 2.2 with the Generals. A LSD would really help at this point I think. Also, I believe the OP of this thread does have LSD according to his SIG.

Yes, the guy had an LSD too.
What's amazing is he got a 11.76 @ 119.55 and hotrod's best is a 11.78 @ 119.55 True Larry was in 2000 feet DA's (well not really sure as he said his best time was the first run of the day so not sure if the 2000 ft DA was the peak of the day or what it was when he ran his best run) but Larry had MANY more mods on his car. Hotrod did his times in slightly below sea level DA's but no other bolt on mods, no meth, no LSD, etc. Not taking anything from Larry and his great time, but Hotrod's times are still more impressive considering his lack of mods which easily cancel out the 2000 ft DA advantage Hotrod had. BTW, warmer days will take away from performance on a hot car, but they also warm the track nicely for better grip on the launch, which is very beneficial for good 60 foot times, which correlate to better ET's That's why there is a fine balance between being too cold and being too hot. 40 degree days are great for rolling runs, but wreaks havoc at the strip trying to get traction. Just as 90 degree days allows for great times from a dig, but without the help of FMIC, high octane, DCI, and now meth, you'll heat soak faster and that hurts trap speeds and times. |

The biggest contributing factor to his time definitely has to be the meth setup. Any other non-meth N54 in that DA would not have a good chance of breaking 112-114mph trap speeds.
I don't really think the LSD helps that much in these hot conditions unless the track prep is just terrible. Bradenton typically has a decently prepped track. Rather I can agree with Driver72 that the warmer conditions have the tires work/heat up very well.

The 335i is a great car. Many cars are falling victim to a tuned 335i. Yesterday it was a new M3, and today a S5. Such a fun car to drive!

I'm mean, I raced a montego blue e92 tonight in the Viper SRT10 on Hwy 680N, not sure if it was tuned but it was not very close : P Not nearly as gratifying as when I pulled the Sl55 or C6 in my 335i (V3 tuned), this was more like being a bully, I prefer being the underdog...
