I've lost all under the radar capabilities with my "new" M3.....I've quieted it down a lot, but if i'm in the fun pedal hard enough you'll hear hte turbo spool, the BOV release and more importantly the open wastegate BARK!

+2 Nothing beats the good 'ol S-L-E-E-P-E-R status. I would put the e90 335 up in the Top 5 of sleepers.. who agrees?

A year ago--for sure. Now, not so much--at least not by the general "performance car enthusiast" community. If you occassionally visit some of the other forums as I do--its not much of a secret anymore. ![]()

Thats why the 335i is such a sleeper. Because of all the E90/E92 3 series out there, I will bet less than 25% are actually 335i models.

Sometimes I wonder...
at these rates... will someone crack into the 10's. 10.99? Meth, map 12+ who knows, exhaust, downpipes, maybe a shot of nos. Full bolt ons.. I know its asking for blown turbos but it would be interesting to just be able to say our cars hit a 10 sec 1/4 lol. Probably out of our realm of possibility without bigger turbos.

Don't stop at 325, go to 323 or 318. I think we should all re-badge to 318.

I dont think that would happen on stock turbos. But it should be coming in the near future with upgraded turbos. I wonder how a AWD 335 would do with upgraded turbos? Might put too much strain on the AWD system and snap something... who knows... but im sure we will see in due time. ![]() |

Its kind of like these guys in their boosted diesels. They feel they are total sleepers, so they go all around racing and beating all the sports cars around town. No doubt some of them are outrageously fast. But for the most part, I take them seriously and never let them get the jump on me. They definitely get surprised by the little BMW that could.

On the street--thats different--but then again just about everyone thinks their car is fast. Its too easy to beat 99% of whats out there in my BMW. But the general population doesn't follow the car stuff like we all do. But many of the srt8s and GTOs that do want to play -around here-are generally more than capable of being good competition...and would most likely beat most 335s out there--even the tuned ones. They have heads/cam/tune/exhaust and can run the 1/4 in high elevens--but are just getting warmed up at 100 mph. I have said this before-much to the chagrin of many on here-but a dyno tuned SRT8, from a roll, is a monster on the top end. If you running a non race map without race gas, and no other mods--you better be prepared for a dead even battle-at best. Same with the GTO.

Ferrari 599 beatdown!
I've had a smile on my face for 2 days now. Coming into work I see a black 599 up ahead. He stops at the front of the line at the next light, and I pull up behind him. Yes, my car looks fairly aggressive in the rear view mirror, but you never know if they're even looking behind or not.
Anyway, pulling away from the light I see he's into it, as am I. I don't know if he short shifted, lost traction/traction control kicked in, bad driver, just surprised or just the low torque in, but I was able to pull out and up beside him as we climbed the hill, we were even for a bit (man the car sounded good ) and when he shifted (I was already in second-love that torque) I just walked away. At the next light he pulled up beside me and would not look over, just stared bolt upright, straight ahead.I wasn't sure if he'd seen the baby seat in the back or not, but I was going to point it out to him. ![]() Not truely a fair fight, his car is certainly faster, maybe he wasn't "ready", but he pulled it off the line so... I'm a track junkie, not a drag guy, so don't know all the nuances. But I've still got a smile on my face! |
