Angry What am i doing wrong?

ok i been reading these threads for a while on how to detail my car. I had really bad water marks so i washed, clayed and compunded it with the pc7424 and i still have no luck with the water marks. Can someone tell me exactly what i need to do?

I use Blue Coral to wash
Mothers clay bar kit
3M Rubbing compund 05973
and the yellow pad

the water marks are still there though what am i doing wrong? oh my pc 7424 died today kinda weird i used it twice and it died on me.

the cars too hot when washing.. baking the calcium in the water on the paint

Also , the water may be very hard, and leaving major stains
Not good anyway for an attempt at paint renovation :?

What about a water softener?
and wash by panel , then dry?

I would think a less aggressive polish (try SIP) and orange pad would remove those water marks. If you aren't getting them out with compounding paste, I don't know what to say except I don't think you should have jumped to compounding paste right away.

Are you sure you burned out your 7424? Or maybe does it shut itself off for protection if it reaches a certain temperature?

To avoid getting water spots in the first place, wash in the shade and don't let water spot on the car. Or use a CR Spotless.

as far as hard water i tried to use that mr. clean gun thing with the filter to help it out with the hard water issue. and i washed the car in the early morning like at 730

well far as i know the 7424 is out for the count. i let it cool down for like 6 hr in the ac and still nothing happen. and what is (SIP)?

i dont have any advise becasue Ive never had that problem... but those pics make me scared to leave my car out in the rain...

I recommend that the best and most effective way to correct these waterspots and the damage they have created is by using a rotary polisher. Use a foam polishing pad polish with a light cleaner/polish, and pass over the waterspots to remove. After the spotting has been removed, then follow up with the PC and a premium polish to remove any halograming or swirl marks from the rotary polisher. And finally using the PC and a finishing pad, apply your wax or sealant, remove product with a MF and your done. The last touch would be a 360 around the vehicle with a QD for any dust or residue removel, and that last inspection......

IF you used a PC and 3M rubbing compound, and it still looks like that, you must live downwind from some serious manufacturing. ASSUMING you used the PC at a decent speed, and really broke down the 3M.
I'm not outright calling you a liar, but I see NONE of the streaks/swirls I would expect if you used only your hand and 3M rubbing compound. Can you "feel" the water marks on top of the surface?

One other you could try is the old vinegar/water in a spray bottle. Spritz it on a CLEAN car, then wipe with MF cloth.

Just as a light-hearted bit, on the third picture down , lower left corner, just under your left hand reflection, one of the spots looks like a smiley with an ear

it does look like a smiley with an ear. it almost seems like it mocks me.

honestly im not that experienced. but when i had my cheap buffer from walmart. it worked perfect. i never had problems with it until a friend broke it.

am i doing this right? wash, clay, compund with yellow pad?

Being your PC burnt out and such today . I think maybe Its just your polisher. If you do enjoy detailing your car just invest in a Flex. When u master that move up to a rotary if u want.

Be careful with compounds/polishes as most work by cutting down the clear coat. Each time you use these products your clear coat gets thinner.

I used Chemical Guys Clayblock (http://www.chemicalguys.com/Clay_Bar..._block_kit.htm) today to remove water spots from my hood. It took off water spots that regular clay did not.

water is chalky

water is chalky (hard water ) , u have to use vinegar (nit)

mix water and your car shampoo and vinegar in the bucket. then wash your car. it will solve chalky spots and your car paint will look shiny!!
