Got my 2009 BMW E90. Two months later I still can't stand the premium seats.
I drive 3000 miles a month. I adjust the seat 10 times an hour. Can't get it right. Don't know what my problem is. It never feels right. I'm middle age and not really much of a complainer but I wish I knew what to do. I love the car. Hate the seats. Any ideas?

For starters, there are no "premium seats." If you didn't get the sport package, the car comes with the standard seats.

That notwithstanding, what is the specific complaint - i.e. where are you not comfortable? Lumbar, shoulder area, etc?

I do have some problems with the sport seats. They don't feel confortable on long trips, because my femural bones rest on the side bolsters of the seat instead of the seat itself. The seats should be wider (or my butt narrower but thats another story). This causes pain in my right leg after 2-3 hours of driving.

The side bolsters are adjustable.

what size are you. i'm 5'7" 150 lbs, 3 weeks ago i drove for 12 hrs straight to Atlanta, Ga. i felt great, these are about the best sport seats yet, for me.
just keep working at it.

The side bolsters are adjustable.

I'm not sure that would help much if it's bothering his leg seeing. It's only the bolsters in the seat back that are adjustable.

Going back to the OP's question, though, as JSpira said, you're going to need to be more specific about why they're bothering you. Do you have the sport package, and thus, the sport seats with the larger side bolsters and extendable cusion on the seat bottom, or the standard seats which have a one-piece bottom and flatter design? Is it the shape of the seat that in some way bothers you, or is it more a matter of not being able to position it for a comfortable driving position for some reason?

Actually there are premium seats....

At least in the US, all "premium seats" are leather, powered and have lumbar support.

I have the sports package and love the seats. I drove from West Palm beach, FL to Maryland in 16 hours.

I have to agree with you. Every now and then i find a postion that feels comfortable for a little while, but then i end up adjusting again. I don't think the sport/non-sport makes a difference. In fact, the sport seats would just constrain you more with the bigger bolsters. The seats are just too small. I'm about 6' and 190 lbs....and i don't mean 190lbs of cheesburger fueled blubber. Whenever i get into our TL after driving the bmw, i sit down and say "ahhhhhh.....". The seats are so much more comfortable. Just a little softer and a little more space between the bolsters....makes all the difference in the world.

Of course, I should note that my back hurts when i sit most chairs.

You are correct of course re the features but they are the same seats as cars with non-premium packages. The sports seats are a completely different design, by contrast.

Op said "premium seats".. I believe he has the standard seats.. Premium package just adds multi power adjustment.

I eventually opted for the sports package just because of the seats (also because sports package get the extra oil cooler for the 335i's)

Agreed. Except it doesn't take 3 hours for me to feel that way. I'm 6'0 and 180lbs and the seat feels to small. Can't imagine how a bigger guy would feel. The side bolsters should be wider at the widest point. Poor design imo

I can imagine the seats are a perfect cut for your size. Too bad most guy are bigger then that. Not sure what bmw was thinking

Part of the problem might be the 3,000 miles per month. That much driving means you are sitting in the car a ton. I also drive 3,000+ per month. It took me a little while, but I got the seats just right. What finally helped me out was tilting the lower half of the seat up more (so the front was higher than the back). Maybe that will work for you? Overall, these seats are super comfortable. Hopefully you find the positioning that will help you out.

I can imagine the seats are a perfect cut for your size. Too bad most guy are bigger then that. Not sure what bmw was thinking

These seats are great for me, and I am the same size. I came from an Evo, though. Those seats were super tight! I can get these seats that tight by adjusting the side bolsters, but I normally keep them looser than that. Adjustable side bolsters FTW, btw.

If it makes you feel any better, I have been trying to find a comfortable seating position in my wife's 325 for months now, and nothing feels right for more than 5 minutes. I can't stand driving her car. Now in my Z4 everything is literally perfect and I can drive for days. But back into the 3, and it starts all over with a small adjustment here and there.

My only gripe is that with my seats (sport) the front needs to tilt up just a hair more and the thigh support just needs another inch of extension. But nevertheless, I go on 8-12 750+mile drives a year, and the car is fantastic (except when I'm stuck on I-95 in Georgia and would trade my kingdom for an X5)
